Had an early evening dinner here on one of the hottest days of the year so far. There was plenty of free parking outside and the pub filled up nicely during our meal. All the meals were available on a chalk board. Sadly there were no vegetarian main courses to choose from. My wife chose an avacardo and fetta salad from the starters which she had as a main, and I chose a chicken breast. Our elderly mum had a childs portion of fish and chips which was ample for her and just as well as we saw some 'adult' portions of fish & chips on another table and they were huge. All our food we felt was good and we enjoyed our meal.
The interior of the pub is a little tired but the staff were most pleasant and efficient.
I had a pint of St. Peter's best bitter, but found it very bitter indeed, so not a favourite. It may be worth sampling before you buy,
Excellent views across the river from our table, which makes the 10 mile journey from Ipswich worthwhile.

The menu chalked on a blackboard was far from varied so it was difficult to choose our food. In the end it was my go-to in such a situation of scampi, chunky chips and peas. My husband opted for Cajun chicken. After a wait of around 45 minutes - and it was far from busy - the food arrived. Mine looked as I would have expected but the Cajun chicken consisted of two extremely greasy looking and apparently tasting portions of chicken on the bone sitting on equally greasy potatoes and peas. I had to watch my far from faddy husband de-skin the chicken, take out fatty lumps before he could eat it and he said he wouldn't have done if he hadn't been hungry. If there was any spice it was taken off with the soggy skin. Mine, although looking fine was quite tasteless. The chunky chips were the best part. At almost £11 for each meal it was daylight robbery.
It made a change though for the serving staff to not come and ask if everything was okay as soon as we had a mouthful. I expect they didn't want to know and no one was about when we left so no complaint could be given.

Usual Chef on his hols.we were told hence restricted menu. Had fish & chips for lunch where the fish had all the appearance and taste of being reheated/recooked. It was awful.

Arrived on spec to find a snack lunch - and instead had a really well-filled smoked-salmon sandwich which was great! Staff were friendly, and we were able to sit outside without hassle. Good value too!

Parked in front of the pub whilist going for a walk in the area, decided to have a drink and a "bite to eat" on the spur of the moment, no starter was had, my wife had a seasoned local pork chop and veg, I had local sausages in mash and gravy, service was good brilliant!
