Owner description: Built in 1960, Penninn Eymundsson in Austurstræti is our largest store and the oldest active bookstore in Iceland. On the bottom two floors you can find a large selection of office supplies and a colorful and fun kid's department. The upper floors are home to a large selection of books in Icelandic and English and a great variety of souvenirs, suitcases, travel accessories and giftwares. The top floor houses a café from Te & Kaffi that offers delicious coffee drinks and pastries on a beautiful outside seating area.

We went here many times during our trip. There are lots of English books, gifts, children's items, small souvenirs, a cafe. I bought little things like magnets and bookmarks and postcards. There are multiple floors to look at, it's larger than many of the shops, and has a great selection of books from mysteries to history to Icelandic authors. Location is very good, too.

Good store, great ambience and too expensive for tourist shopping. One of those tourist traps! For souvenirs, you're better off walking down Laugavegur and comparison shopping before buying.

The book store with cafe in the heart of Reykjavík town. Not only the great selection of books, they have good quality souvenirs like t shirts, cups, key chain, etc. If you buy postcards here, they have stamps, too. Coffee at the cafe was good and they open late. Great spot to stop by for taking a break from strolling town or shopping.

Nice attractive bookstore with a wide selection of titles, including English editions. They have a coffee shop and a god gift area for Iceland souvenirs. There comfortable seating - a nice place to take a break.

I grabbed a quick to go breakfast here. They have a very nice bookstore, an area for seating, and a coffee counter with a variety of baked goods such as croissants and muffins. We bought a couple of boxed juices, two coffees, a muffin, and an oatmeal. It was all very good but, this being Iceland, ridiculously expensive.
