Reminded me of Newburyport Street in Boston, lots of shops and a variety of eateries on one long, colorfully eclectic street.

It was fine. There was a plaza/square that is probably nice on pretty days. There was a hot dog stand with good dogs. Otherwise, felt pretty much like a tourist area - several tourist "trinket" gift shops, an information center that had lots of brochures and some maps and people who would book tours for you. Lots of taxis around. A small grocery store. Felt like a safe area.

Enjoyed a stroll down Lauavegur. Many shops open late. Lots of choice for places to eat. Designer shops, tourist shops, lovely jewellers. Also a good supermarket to pick up extras, bottled water, apples etc. Has a good salad bar.

Lots of fun shops. It's a good way to start exploring the city and get some souvenirs. Love story of fun things to see.

Plan a day to shop and walk around the streets of streets. They have many Icelandic souvenir shop, T-shirt(buy 3 free 1), tea and coffee café and restaurant along these streets.

if you are buying Icelandic souvenir, compare the price before you purchase.

You can get tax refund at the airport if you purchase more than 6000 isk.
