Contemporary hotel in fabulous location

Review of 101 Hotel
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 28 Oct 2024via mobile
Well located hotel, small without too many rooms. Lovely staff, very clean and well designed room. We were upgraded and had a large room with a lovely park view. Lovely modern/contemporary decor which we loved. Went to the recommended neighbouring restaurant and had a fabulous meal. Highly recommend the 101 and would enjoy staying again.
Date of stay: October 2024
Room Tip: Limited onsite parking, however paid parking up the street. Hotel is right in the middle of town...

Great location to the old part of downtown and very convenient to bus stop 6 which is used for tour pickups and drop offs. The hotel gym, hot tub and steam room were also very good. Staff are awesome and also very helpful as well. They are knowledgeable and helpful with tour reservations and pickups.

Room tip: Didn't have a rental car butcibassume parking would not be easy

Hotel is classic boutique. It is in a great location but can be hard to find. The room was clean and well appointed. Parking is an issue if you have a car. We had to search for 20 minutes to find parking on Saturday evening. Breakfast quality was good.

Extremely noisy on both Friday and Saturday…both music and loud, drunk people. For the cost of the room, this was unacceptable.
Moreover I am a titanium loyalty member of Marriott (the affiliate loyalty program for this hotel) so expected a better room
Definitely will not be staying here again

Room tip: While the location was convenient the noise level was excessive

Location, location, location. I have to admit it was hard to find, but it is located in the heart of the action. Hotel is on the south west corner of Hverfisgata and Ingolfsstraeti. There is a Taxi only parking right in front, use that to check in if you have a car. The parking is really tight. We were doing sight seeing so we wanted a car. For exploring the heart of Reykajavik you don't need a car and a taxi to this location would help. It is a small hotel 36 rooms I think, but they are really nice rooms. Bed was excellent. Compared to Oslo, Copenhagen and Stockholm (no hotel under $600/night) the bed was the best of all of them. Staff was super helpful in getting around town and checking in the hotel. I would not hesitate to go again.

After a four year foreign travel hiatus due to the pandemic and puppies, we embarked on our first journey since Krakow in 2019. First stop Reykjavik. The 101 staff warmly welcomed us after our overnight flight. They had a room ready upon our arrival and we grabbed a much needed comfortable nap. The folks at reception assisted us in booking two excursions. The recommended small group northern lights tour was a major success. We lucked out on a great night for viewing. The team at reception also assisted with airport transport at 5am on day of departure. Iceland can be quite pricey, but if the 101 fits into your budget and your plans include a few evenings in Reykjavik we would recommend .
