Beware! Thin walls/windows!!. The lobby and restaurant are quiet, but the party on the street was booming in our room on the 3rd floor in the room farthest away from the music on the street. The music was 96dbs at 10pm and they turned up the volume every hour. I’ve never had such a horrible experience st a Marriott hotel - the least the owner could do is provide ear plugs!! We bought our own but honestly, the plugs didn’t help. The base made the bed vibrate and it was impossible to sleep until 1sm when the music fonally stopped. I would have given the hotel zero stars, but it is clean. They location and building has many trip hazards, so people should prepare for that. I fell flat on my face on their doorstep. I do not recommend this hotel and I will never return.

Great location and nice room BUT way too loud. First we are Marriott titanium members which didn’t seem to matter in this hotel. We were given the room on street side right near the bar. We had an early 14 hour flight the next morning so we needed some rest. Vibration from music and partying kept us awake until 3:00AM. While understandably there is no AC in room it is possible to open the windows but with the noise level on high volume that was not an option. This made for even a more uncomfortable stay. Unless you plan on partying until the weee hours of the morning we do not recommend this hotel.

July 15, we arrived in Reykjavík after an overnight flight from the states! Needless to say, we were exhausted. Gamely, we headed to the hotel we were booked in. When, after mishap after mishap, we were unable to get into that hotel and no help from the owner, our tireless travel agent booked us into the 101 hotel and we couldn’t be happier. Staff welcomed us, took care that we could go to our room at once ( our anxiety, exhaustion and testiness must have shown through.) Each staff member was pleasant, our rooms comfortable and transportation awaited anytime we needed it! Our first hotel ( nameless, of course, should take note!
