When you flew out of Boston at 11:30PM and no sleep, the nicest words you can hear the next morning when you're hoping just to store your luggage are "Your room is ready". And it only got better. There is a sauna and small pool with lounge chairs in the hotel which figured as a welcome retreat for us. We also went to the wine bar where the attendant gave us lots of local information including tiny utility bills offset by only living in the midst of active volcanoes. And you can see the hotdog stand that is very busy through the windows of the hotel. Apparently, the granddaughter runs the stand which was opened by her grandfather. Windows were always open which was interesting and explained by cheap utilities. Very refreshing and we enjoyed it. Our 3d floor room was irregular in shape with prominent eaves; I enjoyed the view. Our bed was very comfortable as well as the separate quilts so there was no stealing of covers. Excellent setup! ;). The hotel is situated in the old part of town within walking distance of much. And the day we left, we got into a conversation with the GM who followed up on our cab reservation without us asking. A very welcoming and comfortable place. I'd go back in a heartbeat!
