Overall, quite nice. Room was modern and clean, if not a little on the small side. We found the bed a bit uncomfortable, with pillows that were reaching the end of their lives, but the hotel did try to resolve this when we asked (we were given some... Slightly... Better pillows). When one of our tours was cancelled due to bad weather, the receptionist was able to give some great advice about what to do and see in the city at short notice. We really appreciated this. The included breakfast was also very nice.
However, this good experience was ruined a bit on our last day.
We had booked a taxi via reception to take us to the airport at 4:45am. The person who booked it for us assured us that the taxi would be on time or early. We were downstairs and ready on time.
In the end, the taxi was over 30 minutes late. We weren't the only people waiting for a late airport taxi either.
This, of course, isn't hotel's fault. It is the taxi company's fault. My complaint, however, is with the total indifference of the hotel receptionist to the situation.
Although he did ring the taxi company to "confirm the booking" (not to ask why they were so late!), that's all he did. When I anxiously enquired, he only said "it's confirmed" and "it's not a problem at our end". When I asked how often taxis are over 30 minutes late he just replied "yes, sometimes". When I asked about calling a different taxi company, as we were increasingly worried about being late for our flght, his response was just that he couldn't do that. He could not have been less interested.
If I ran a hotel, and the taxi company I used to take guests to the airport at early hours of the morning was frequently 30 minutes late, I'd use a different company! Id also have my staff show some concern and be a little proactive (like trying to find another taxi), instead of just stating that it wasn't the hotel's problem.
A stressful and frustrating end to an otherwise enjoyable stay.
