Super cool, small museum and not pricey. Im an amateur punk fan but didn’t know anything about Iceland’s, and this is a cool way to get some history is a different way. Cool pictures and overall a good time.

It was appropriate that we visit the Punk Museum on our first trip to Iceland since I've wanted to visit the country ever since I first heard Bjork's voice three decades ago when she was a member of the post-punk band, The Sugarcubes. I finally made it and was delighted to stumble upon the Punk Museum.

Cleverly, and appropriately, located in a former underground public toilet the museum approaches its subject matter with wry humor. It is a must-visit for fans of punk rock but anyone with a sense of humor or an interest in popular and/or youth culture will enjoy it.

The museum features listening stations, where you can sample the music of some of the bands featured in the exhibit. Some of it is pretty damned good!

And, yes, Bjork is there too...

This was something of an impromtu visit but very glad we poked our heads in!

I love my music but have never really been into the punk scene - that didn't matter, it's well worth a look. Among other things, it's a great little snapshot of the past 100 years of Icelandic culture.

The dude that runs it is a total chiller, made us feel really welcome and clearly loves what he does.

AND you get to have a bash on the drums / strum a guitar at the end. Get in!

A very unique museum. You can listen to punk music, play a guitar or drums, even dress up in punk gear! It's a very small museum, so you won't need more than an hour to visit.

I've never been to a museum in an ex public toilet before or to a punk museum for that matter- but I have now!!
A pretty unique experience telling the story of the Icelandic punk scene.
Loved pulling the headphones down from the ceiling to listen to the various bands.
Lots of memorabilia on show and to play with.
The curator has such a passion for this era.
It won't appeal to everyone but I enjoyed it!
