Breathtaking view and phenomenal way to spend a few days in Reykjavík!

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 3 Oct 2022via mobile
After a 10 day trip around the ring road, my wife and I wanted to rest and relax for our final 4 days in Iceland. The Tower Suites was the perfect place to do just that. From our room we had a grand view of the downtown and water view while being treated like royalty by the staff at Tower Suites. Breakfasts provided were fantastic and the location is simply minutes away from some of the best dining and sights in the capital! Would definitely recommend for anyone staying a few nights in Reykjavík.

As a frequent international traveler, this was one of the most unusual hotel experiences i have had. Located on the top floor of an office building, Tower Suites was difficult to find and when I arrived after midnight I learned that “invisible service” means there is no hotel staff on-site. So getting entry was an ordeal. As it turns out hotel engines, the intermediary I booked through, neglected to share critical instructions. That’s where the bad experience ends. The hotel was very comfortable. The room was modern and spacious. The staff (Alexsandra) was incredibly attentive and helpful. The amenities were great and the view was one of the best in town. The location was great - a bit out of town but everything is walkable. I highly recommend Tower Suites.

Room tip: Bring lots of layers.

Great view, very clean, comfortable and modern room. Fabulous complimentary breakfast. Friendly staff. Slightly strange entrance hall at the base of the building but don't be deterred as once you reach the top floor rooms it has a view across the city and the rooms are worth it.

Just got back from this amazing hotel. The staff and room were all unavailable great. The views can not be compared. The hotel was private and quiet The breakfast that was brought into the room each day was amazing. The hotel even brought us back to the airport with no charge.

Tower Suites : Katrinartun 2, 20th floor, 105 Reykjavik
Tower Suites is an interesting concept: 8 suites located on the top floor of a 20 story office building, slightly away from the City Center of Reykjavik, but still within walking distance of the important tourist-related locations. We utilized Tower Suites driver to pick us up and return us to the airport (extra charge) which is in Keflavik, about 45 minutes away. The Suites are modern and bright, and our suite, #4, was located adjacent to the main gathering area, where cocktails and beverages are available, and breakfast is sometimes served. (It is also served in your room on some days.) The suite itself was airy and spacious, with a king sized bed and warm and comfortable duvets for each of us. Closet space and counter space were ample, although there was not an actual desk. Wifi is free, and signal strength was strong and handled all our devices without difficulty. The bathroom was spacious and modern, also. The staff we encountered were uniformly pleasant & professional, and were very helpful to us. Breakfast was served in our room one day, in the main area in buffet style another day, and on our third morning we departed early (4:40 a.m.!) and received a ‘to-go’ bag of food, which we appreciated. It is about a 20-25 minute walk along the bay shoreline to the Opera House (Harpa), which is adjacent to the harbor and the City Center shopping district. The weather was delightful during our 3 days in Iceland, and walking was not a problem, but I wouldn’t want to do it in cold or wet weather. We received excellent recommendations from the staff, who were genuinely pleasant at all times. There is a Hop On Hop Off bus stop acriss the street from the building, making it convenient if you want to utilize this option. We took a private Golden Circle tour with Hidden Iceland, which is the subject of a separate (excellent) review, and our knowledgeable and friendly guide, Fannar Andresson, picked us up and dropped us off at Tower Suites. I didn’t explore the other hotel options in Reykjavik, because we followed the lead of friends who had previously stayed at Tower Suites, but I would consider Tower Suites a strong option for someone spending a few days in Reyjkavic.

Room tip: Ask for a room with a view of the harbor

As travelling conisers we are always gracious and respectful. And expect the same back. The staff were helpful and gracious until we saw another side to them upon Leaving after a dreadful, life threatening almost life changing accident that occurred in the premises of the Tower Suites .

After my 12 year old son had had a shower, my husband preceded to have his shower 20 minutes later. At 10.50 am I preceded to have my shower, as I finished my shower and reached for my towel which was in close proximity, I felt an earth shattering smash on my back and neck, and blood everywhere, when I looked down I had a deep open wound on my right wrist with the muscle and bone exposed, I ran out screaming thinking that a bomb had gone off, not realising that the large 4.5m bathroom slide door made of glass had exploded and shattered over me, thank goodness it was me not my child in there. He would have been dead.

I took the brunt of the thick glass shattering, injuring me severely, lacerating my body everywhere, I ran out screaming, for help. My husband followed not understanding what had just happened. I went into shock, trembling, scared that I was dying seeing the loss of blood everywhere ie towels, floor etc

An ambulance was called, and I was taken to the hospital, still in shock whereby, I was issued a dedicated trauma nurse and Doctor who spent 2 hours stitching me up and trying to glue my skin back together, the skin on my back was wrecked with loose skin hanging of, I was advised that I would be scarred for life, and endure months of rehabilitation, meanwhile I would not be able to use water on my skin, neither use the facilities of the blue Lagoon for which we had paid 0ver £4000.

To date I have received no courtesy calls to find out how I am, and this is a day ago. Incident 7/04/2022 moved to new hotel on the 8/4/2022. I was released from Hospital same day. I will be taking this matter further, uncaring Manager that could not be bothered to see how I was
