Tower Suites : Katrinartun 2, 20th floor, 105 Reykjavik
Tower Suites is an interesting concept: 8 suites located on the top floor of a 20 story office building, slightly away from the City Center of Reykjavik, but still within walking distance of the important tourist-related locations. We utilized Tower Suites driver to pick us up and return us to the airport (extra charge) which is in Keflavik, about 45 minutes away. The Suites are modern and bright, and our suite, #4, was located adjacent to the main gathering area, where cocktails and beverages are available, and breakfast is sometimes served. (It is also served in your room on some days.) The suite itself was airy and spacious, with a king sized bed and warm and comfortable duvets for each of us. Closet space and counter space were ample, although there was not an actual desk. Wifi is free, and signal strength was strong and handled all our devices without difficulty. The bathroom was spacious and modern, also. The staff we encountered were uniformly pleasant & professional, and were very helpful to us. Breakfast was served in our room one day, in the main area in buffet style another day, and on our third morning we departed early (4:40 a.m.!) and received a ‘to-go’ bag of food, which we appreciated. It is about a 20-25 minute walk along the bay shoreline to the Opera House (Harpa), which is adjacent to the harbor and the City Center shopping district. The weather was delightful during our 3 days in Iceland, and walking was not a problem, but I wouldn’t want to do it in cold or wet weather. We received excellent recommendations from the staff, who were genuinely pleasant at all times. There is a Hop On Hop Off bus stop acriss the street from the building, making it convenient if you want to utilize this option. We took a private Golden Circle tour with Hidden Iceland, which is the subject of a separate (excellent) review, and our knowledgeable and friendly guide, Fannar Andresson, picked us up and dropped us off at Tower Suites. I didn’t explore the other hotel options in Reykjavik, because we followed the lead of friends who had previously stayed at Tower Suites, but I would consider Tower Suites a strong option for someone spending a few days in Reyjkavic.
