A great place to kill time with grandchildren. Plenty to see and touch. It is free and lots of things for kids to experience and even learn about.

We went to this museum to learn more about the life and art of John Bauer. We only learnt about his remarkable life when visiting Jönköping. Since his illustrations of forest fairies and trolls are appealing to children, we brought two of our grandchildren there. They had a great time dressing up in two rooms with a fairy tale setting with elks and forests. For the adults there was not an awful lot to see in this free entry museum. We could leaf through his illustrated books and read about his life story. We had expected to see more of his original work (drawings, sketches, panintings etc). We were not impressed with the other art on display in the museum.

The small exhibit of John Bauer was worth seeing. The art was minimal and often unimpressive. There were some interesting art but it was set within the other art works. The gift shop contained very few items in English.

Thanks for your feedback. We're working with a lot of different exhibitions. Next spring (2020) our new cultural-historical exhibition will open. Welcome back!

I loved this place on sight and kept going back and back (it's free). Slightly confusing layout, with art exhibitions upstairs, a library to the left, and the wonderfully eclectic collection of local memorabilia past the library in the archive. Great exhibit about John Bauer, the fantasy illustrator, & a fantastic kids' play area where they can dress up in all kinds of costumes. Vegetarian cafe, free lockers, friendly staff.
