it is a nice and affordable hotel with nice facilities. sleeping quality is good. cleanliness is good. staff only had a language barrier, had difficulty both with turkish and english. not all of the staff but majority. staff ws helpful though. service was a bit slow. hotel2s location offers a sea-view but it is actually far from center of Kyrenia, but they have a shuttle 2-3 times a day to Kyrenia and a beach. Customer relations met our requests and expectations. breakfast ingredients' quality could be better. Pool was nice.

The hotel is located an around 5min drive uphill from the main road extending along the coast east of Kyrenia. You have to drive through the nice little village of Catalköy; the hotel is signposted off the main road. The location up in the hills means that you are a little off the buzzing main tourist area; and that you have a view both of the sea and of the Kyrenia range mountains. However, be aware that walking down to the beach or to Kyrenia from here is not an option: you will need a (rented) car or possibly use taxis, the free hotel shuttles to the beach and city center do not run very often.

Our room was very clean, large enough and well equipped. The bathroom was nice and modern. The pool and public areas are well kept and quite comfortable. Breakfast was good, though not overwhelming. We had a la carte dinner in the hotel restaurant once and weren't convinced: a steak ordered medium came better-than-well-done, and the restaurant's atmosphere wasn't very romantic. Other than that, we were really quite happy with food, drinks and service during our stay.

The hotel is a good starting point for excursions in the area: Kyrenia city center, Bellapais, St Hilarion are all reached within 15-30min of driving. Be aware that it can be hard to find nice beaches in the area east of Kyrenia: the largest one (Acapulco) is really expensive (40TL) and quite crowded, the smaller ones (Diana beach and Catalköy beach) not necessarily very beautiful. However, the hotel pool is a perfectly fine option.

So why 4 stars only, not 5? Well, the hotel was really very nice, but many small details (some broken room equipment, some inconsistent waiting staff, etc.) made it not entirely awesome. However, I can clearly and wholeheartedly recommend the Olive Tree Hotel overall.

This was our first visit to Kyrenia, & our friends booked us into The Olive Tree. We were not disappointed, the hotel is very clean & comfortable, with friendly & helpful staff. The food was very good, with a lot of choices. The pool area was very nice, & as the weather was so hot, very inviting!! We would certainly recommend this hotel.

We have stayed at the Olive Tree on a previous occasion, a number of years ago. We have had a lovely holiday, The Hotel is about 7 miles from Kyrenia, and the only downside to it is there is very little around the Hotel to walk to. We used the Hotel mini bus to Kyrenia two evenings for a meal and had a taxi back (very reasonable). We also went down to the Harbour for lunch. We were surprised how quiet the hotel was, very few people around the beautiful pool, until the weekend when a number of guests came for a weekend break. The breakfast is really good, plenty of choice. We were disappointed with the evening meal though. We used the bar area at the pool side for lunch and drinks. The staff at the Hotel were great and helpful. Our room was spotlessly clean, a basic villa, with air conditioning. Downside - no tea/coffee making facilities. We would go again to the Olive Tree, it was just what we needed, a week to relax and unwind.

The last time we visited we only stayed one night, & asked to be moved to another hotel, 10 years or so ago, it was dire.
Now a vast improvement, our bungalow had plenty of space, lounge ,bedroom, small changing area & shower. Providing shower gel, shampoo, conditioner ,travel toothbrush/paste & razor with foam.
Staff were helpful & friendly , breakfast more than adequate. Only stayed one night again but this time would have like to stay longer & will be booking again when we visit the North.
Tip, ask reception for kettle etc., as they don't put this automatically in the room.
If TV is your thing, take a laptop or something to watch through the internet, which you can get in the room, although there are two TV's in the bungalows there is only one English channel ,news , which is usual in Northern Cyprus.
Its a few miles out of Kyrenia, but the Taxi in was around 25TL's each way.
