This town has the potential to be beautiful, however there are way too many tourists and tourist buses and too many shops that sell the same things. We expected the town to be a little more authentic but is overrun by tourism. We did enjoy our early morning jog Before the shops opened up and the tourists were out.

Incredible atmosphere! Really nice to looser yourselves in the small streets, see the traditional items and absorb the Cretan culture! Awesome experience!

The old town is a lovely matrix of narrow steers and alleys, full of upmarket shops, bars and cafes. Few hotels, we love the Rimondi boutique.

Stopped here as part of the TUI trip to Chania and Suda Bay. Lots of allyways and old venitian style buildings. The public fountain has spring water, you can refil your water bottle. Loads of photo opportunities especially in the old harbour where thers are plenty of tavernas for lunch or just a drink. Look out for the square with the mosque and tower. We also came across a monument to the partisans who were shot in ww2. Rethymno old town is definatly worth a visit
