This lovely space is a find in the busy tourist town of Agios Nikoalaos Crete. The menu offers a variety of home cooked fare. There is also a display of the local daily catch to chooses from. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The courtyard has several resident cats so be aware you will be sharing their space. Share a few plates of some of the fab dips and maze to start. The best taramsalata I have ever eaten.

We were recommended this Taverna by their Sister restaurant in Plaka which in our opinion was equally wonderful.
The menu is extensive in both restaurants. Pelagos is a covered alfresco garden full of Colourful plants and trees.Everything is cooked freshly so a little wait really wasn’t a problem for us.
We all chose differently and when the food arrived it was all simply delicious. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful as we had asked for different sauces to accompany different meat dishes and also to omit certain ingredients from other dishes, nothing was too much trouble!
We had a wonderful evening with excellent food and local wine all reasonably priced in a stunning setting. We will most definitely be eating here again and would highly recommend Pelagos.

The staff was exceptionally friendly, the food was delicious, the wine list robust, and the outdoor seating in the garden with the waterfall was fantastic. We had a terrific night and would go back again in a heartbeat - close to city center for a stroll by the lake and ocean after dinner.

We loved it all! Atmosphere, service and food were a full 10. We ate seafood pastas with appetizers (olives, feta and bread) and house roze wine. Kind happy staff, welcoming atmosphere. We recommend this place for everyone who visits Agios Nikolaos!

After staying at our half board hotel, which by the way is very nice(Minos Palace Crete) the wife and I fancied a trip into Ag Nik. Done the usual search and found the restaurant Pelagos just a very short walk from "The lake" which is the main area for restaurants and the like. I suppose that being just off the main area you could miss this gem, or it makes it more exclusive (I'll let you decide)
First impressions looks rustic, nice frontage and outside dining to the left of the main building.
The waitress said we could sit anywhere as we were early evening diners it was quiet, we chose the rear right hand quarter, we sat at our table, warning some chairs are heavy. The ambience was nice, background music, colourful decor and water feature.
We ordered our starter of tzatziki which was fresh and plentyful, one portion between us would have been ok, had it on the bread offered to us as it didn't come with pita bread.
Main course I had grilled octopus which was very nice and cooked well, came with vegetables etc, The wife had pork in white wine sauce which had a spicey twang to it, we both finished our meals but couldn't manage a desert, too full.
So if your looking for a restaurant give this one a look up you'll not be disappointed.
Mind the falling seeds!!
