We went 1/2 day morning tour. Our guide had been doing it for 47 years and was extremely knowledgeable.and out-going. He gave very clear instructions and tried to keep things moving, but there were several old women with their daughters who thought the entire tour should be tailored to their needs. The guide did not put up with their bunk and got a nice tip from us for his efforts. The downside was that after the tour ended we drove around for 30 minutes dropping off guests at a long list of hotels. But we were told, midway thru this routine that we would have to return to the tour office and wait for 90 minutes for a smaller bus to take to our hotel which was on the coast and farther away. I told him that I had no interest in waiting that long and that was total BS. He said that we should have been told in the beginning, which we were not and called the office, but could not get us any help. We got off the bus at a restaurant where a few people going on an afternoon tour were going to have lunch. We got some vague instructions on where the office was, but never could find it and ended up taking a cab back to our hotel. SO BEWARE if you are coming from a hotel on the coast, they may leave you stranded.

I am not usually a fan of large group, organized tours but found that this was going to be the best way to see everything I wanted to see in mainland Greece so booked the 4 day trip and couldn't be happier with my experience. Our guide, Miliza (sp?) was awesome! She knew a lot about each site that we visited, and shared a lot of fun myths and information outside of the straight facts. She was able to get the entire group engaged, even during the long driving parts where there may not have been a specific site to look at/discuss.

I went "Tourist class" and was pleased with all the accommodations - clean, quaint hotels and an authentic experience - which is what I was hoping to get. Very easy to walk to shopping from each hotel and see the various towns on my own after dinner.

Each day there will be a stop at a souvenir shop with a short demonstration of the shop's specialty and about an hour to shop; but no pressure to buy. It was a nice way to break up the day of sightseeing and driving.

Lunch destinations are predetermined and at your own cost, but overall the selection of food was good and tasty and pricing was decent. Provided dinners were also good.

I would highly recommend using G.O. Tours!

We did the two-day tour to Delphi on the first day with an overnight stay in Kalambaka before going to Meteora Monasteries on the second day. The tour guide (Angela?) and the driver were both a bit lack lustre......not at all friendly, engaging, warm or approachable. Whenever anyone asked the guide a question she would give a little sigh and then only partially answer the question, if at all. You got the sense she was on auto-pilot and aiming just to get her spiel out.

Delphi is great but the visit to the museum really should be accommodated. Maybe cancelling out the uneeccessary stop at the shop in the ski town would give some time for the museum?? The lunch stop in Delphi is a bit disappointing as you are taken to a Taverna on a property out of town so have to eat there. It's a shame a stop in town can't be included so people can choose where to eat. The positive is that the food was reasonably priced and fresh and the location had a nice view.

The accommodation in Kalambaka town was basic for three stars but it was bearable for the night. The bonus about this accommodation is that you can have a wander around town after dinner and have a nice view. The four star accommodation is out of town and would need to take a taxi to town. The dinner in the town hotel was reasonable and the breakfast less so.

The tours of Meteora were great - they are just amazing sites! The commentary of the areas was full of information though unfortunately very lengthy and not engaging which meant that many wandered off to look around and read information more than listen.

Lunch after the tour of Meteora was very poor. You were taken to a restaurant in a back street in Kalambaka where you were required to pay a set price for a buffet lunch which was very much school cafeteria style. You moved along with your tray while ladies asked you what you would like and serve it to you. With a vegetarian in our group it was limited choice which was disappointing when you saw the driver and guide being served different meals which included increased vegetarian options. It was frustrating having to eat at this spot rather than being able to explore Kalambaka town with a range of lunch options.

The driver seemed to get very tired on the long trip back to Athens and seemed to become quite angry and yelling at the tour guide or other drivers on the road (or both). He would make some mistakes in the traffic which would mean heavy, sudden braking often, along with taking out a lot of frustration on his horn. His anger and frustration lead us to getting off the bus earlier in town and walking to our hotel instead.

PROS - Meteora is amazing to see.
Staying at a hotel in town in Kalambaka gives the option of a good view and nice walk around town.

CONS - Lacklustre guide and driver
Responsible for own lunch but locked in to the company's choice.
No time made for Delphi museum but extra stops made for unnecessary shops.

We were recently travelling with Angela as our guide and Socrates as our driver. The tour was very enjoyable. The bus arrived on time (in fact, early) for the city pick-up, and we were brought to a central place to change buses to the one that we will be following for the 4 day trip. Our group was less than 20 for most of the trip, and it was very comfortable on the large coach (60 seats, I think?) Socrates is very helpful, processional and a great driver, and we noticed he cleaned the bus's exterior and interior every day (even after driving us for the entire day). It was very clean in the coach and it felt completely new. Angela is very knowledgeable and we enjoyed her comments and company during the trip.
We chose the first class accommodations for this tour, and they placed us at the following hotels.
Hotel Europa Olympia - Good, big-sized room. Dinner was passable, breakfast had a big selection. Service was average.
Hotel Amalia Delphi - Disappointingly, there was no better option at this location and travelers from tourist and first class had the same accommodation and room types. The room was sad - dark and the sliding door to the terrace was impossibly stuck. The room door was thin and plywood, not firesafe, nor soundproof. The toilet floors were wet when we checked in. We requested for a room change and was moved to a slightly better room one floor up. Good dinner and breakfast (but we were there on Easter Sunday, so your experience may vary).
Divani Meteora - This was by far the best hotel of the trip. The room and view was spectacular. Dinner and breakfast was good, and the service at the dining hall was outstanding.

First, although we booked through Fantasy Tours, GO Tours was the operator. This was the case for others on the tour, also. Second, we usually DIY on tours (as we did in Athens), but in this case, because of the distances we needed to cover to see the sites, we booked the four-day classical Greece tour, and we were glad to leave the driving to the bus driver, Costas, who did a great job in some rainy conditions. My apprehension about the tour operator was dispelled when we started the tour. Our guide, Dimitria Papadopoulou, was simply terrific. She knew her history and communicated well in both English and French.
