We are staying in the area close to loule and this was offered as a half day trip by TUI at just under €20.
We had a coach to the location that picked and dropped off at the same location. The guide was great, kept us informed of locations along the way in her very good if not sometimes a little funny words. The driver did get lost on route to another hotel collection so the journey was quite long, some hotels had and hour and a half journey with kids which may not have been good. When we got to the location we wandered to a market I believe they call a gypsy market. It was ok but nothing but the same stuff every few stalls. A lot of Cork which is popular in Portugal, shoes, clothes and jewellery. After this we took a stroll into the main part of town and this was much better. The buildings were lovely and the walk is flat and nice to do. We found an amazing meat/fish inside market filled with Port and cheese, bread, and was beautiful and worth a look in. Over all it was marketed as a place to see the gypsy market, but I would honestly miss the gypsy market and go straight to the main part of the town. The people are lovely and it is a good place to buy souvenirs and pop for some lunch in a nice cafe.

The Loulé Market place from 1908 offers a great selection of textiles, fish, meat, vegetables and fruits. There are also small Coffee shops to be found at the side path ways.

Prices differ from one merchant to another and you can choose to bargain in old fashion way in some cases. You can spend about half an hour walking around the market and the area around.

We took a bus for a day trip to visit the market. It was well worth the journey. Lots of everything from fish to flowers, bread to bangles and leeks to lace. We had a grand chat with a young man selling craft beers. We covered a lot of ground from the beers which I might enjoy to his years of living and working in New England, USA. He had decided to give all that up and return to his native Portugal. It went on from there. We moved on to fill up our bags with food items (and two bottles of craft beer), and headed back towards our bus. A most enjoyable day.

Lots of fresh fish! Friendly people inside, nice cafees around. And great restaurants around selling the fish on their menue, peschara and the sushi place are great for an example. A bit sad to see the middle stand selling tourist souvenirs though

A large airy, booming market, surrounded by Craft stalls that appeared to sell just about every type of food & drink. The sticky buns were excellent (not for the weight watchers). Loule has a decent centre with some interesting shops & the Gypsy Market is only a 10 minute walk
