Description: PIKOTEO is a tapas-forward bar/restaurant with a no-label attitude. This means we get inspiration from the convivial traditional bars in Spain, the busy street food markets in South East Asia or South America and the fine dining establishments worldwide. Picotear is to nibble, to eat small bites in an informal way. It’s the desire to try new things together with those you care about. It’s a way of understanding life, of living….of sharing. In Pikoteo we strive to help you find your hedonist goals. Whether it is in our covered industrial glass greenhouse, our central round bar or in the chef’s table, our communal-style dining philosophy is, ultimately, aiming to provoke interaction, dialogue and joy. Get inspired by our award winning cocktail bar team and indulge in our selection of global wines, beers and non-alcoholic beverages.

Since one of our favorite tapas places in Amsterdam was closed because of renovations but our mind wat set on only tapas we tried something new. After some searching we found Pikoteo. It’s a nice small restaurant just out of the busy city center but still on walking distance from central station. The menu is not very large but they have something of everything. We combined some meat, some fish, some cheese and some veggies. All of them were very tasty!! The pulpo (squid) was even so good we asked for a second plate! The steak tartare was also very nice and the presentation was even better! We will come back for sure! The price/quality comparison is really fair just one small disappointment was the price we paid for the bottles of (tap)water. For a refilled wine bottle of tap water they charged €4,50. I don’t expect to get anything for free but this was too much.

it's been awhile but I do remember it was a good place, interesting area. Good food, small tapas as I remember and worth it. Lots of good food in the city, but basically I just walked around and went into places that looked good.

I was looking for a place that is serving tapas and is having good reviews in Amsterdam. Most tapas restaurants serve traditional tapas, like patatas bravas and olives, jamon. We love those traditional tapas, but were also in for something new. We found this at Pikoteo. Time was flying! We’ve been inside fro 3 hours. For three persons we paid 150 euros and got 12 tapas, a bottle of wine, one glass of cava, two beers and two glasses of rum. A reasonable price if you ask us. All tapas were of great taste! The menu is very diverse, and it was lovely to be able to share it and taste so many different things.

This restaurant is located just minutes away from the city center. But it was worth the detour. A little restaurant with a lovely terrace overlooking the Houtmankade. They serve Spanish dishes tapas style. So you choose from the menu what you like and they serve small bites so everyone in your party can sample the food. The staff is nice and knowledgeable. A real find off the beaten track.

Our Hotel recommended this restaurant to us. Although it was a long way for us to travel by tram from our hotel near Vondelpark with 2 disabled persons we took the challenge as we had been told it was worth it. However, the table we had booked was nonexistent & we were told to sit anywhere. Had there been other places around we would have left there and then as this is not a sign of a good organised restaurant.
The service was terrible and we kept having to call over the waitress, she did roll her eyes at us at one point! I ordered lamb chops which sounded delicious, they were a whole dish full of just fat & bone, a good chef would have seen that these chops were inedible. I was offered 50% off my meal but I said I didn't want to pay anything as it was so bad, which they agreed to to be fair. The other meals in our party were not too bad if you don't mind a mush of spare ribs on tacos. At least you could chew these and they had flavour. Unfortunately I went home hungry. But on a plus side the bread was lovely. If you are staying nearby it may be worth a visit as it's in a nice quiet area overlooking a canal but don't go out of your way like we did.
