Our amuse bouche, starters and mains were disappointing, so we didn’t stick around for dessert. Each course looked very nice on the plate, but was somehow really lacking in flavour.

The crab and kohlrabi starter was a good example - nicely presented, but you couldn’t taste the crab through the various sauces on the plate. My veal main was similar. Looked lovely, but very little flavour.

Service wasn’t great either. Both our mains were wrong when they turned up. No apology or explanation given. I had to ask for water on the table and to see the wine list. Toilets were a bit of a mess, with paper towels all over the floor.

It was pretty dead in there, so ambience was a little lacking also.

All in all, disappointing for a fine dining restaurant.

I'm going to keep this review short. In a top-end, nicely presented restaurant in the middle of a sophisticated city, would you expect the following things to go wrong in a SINGLE visit?

1. Waited 30 mins for our first drinks to arrive.
2. Out of stock of our first choice of wine, and the second.
3. Extremely slow service - we took the 15 course tasting menu, knowing it'll take some time - but starting at 18.30h and being only on course 7 at 21.45 meaning on average it'd be gone midnight before we finish.
4. Other tables speaking Dutch always attended to first, faster and with more enthusiasm. Even when we waved for attention then the table next to us (Dutch group of 4) waved also, they get served, we don't. Almost as if we were de-prioritised for not being Dutch.
5. Missing a napkin, took until 4th course to get one despite repeated asking.
6. Cutlery not served with my husband's oxtail broth - took 5 minutes for it to be supplied.
7. Had to go to the food pass to ask for speedier service due to being ignored.
8. Dirty toilets, hand towels on the floor - I think they're only cleaned once per nightly service.
9. Ignorance of allergies - I was served pork despite stating at the start of the meal I'm allergic to red meat such as pork, lamb, beef and gelatin products.
10. Requested a reasonable discount for such poor service, was offered the cost of a bottle of wine (30 euros). Asked for 50 euros and the owner came out from the kitchen calling me pathetic and threatening to call the police on me if I didn't pay full price or accept the wine discount.

Do you need any more of a review of this place than the above? One of these things happening I could possibly imagine but certainly not more than one and certainly not in a high-end restaurant. We've eaten in some of the top restaurants round the planet and never experience this - in fact not even in some simple noodle joints in Asia for tiny amounts of money... we've had better friendlier and faster service!

A disgrace and travesty of a place. I cannot recommend Wolf Atelier to anyone.

The restaurant itself is very nice with a comfortable bar area to have a drink before sitting down to eat. The menu is short and to the point which I personally like.

The food was interesting, my steak was chewy which I would not expect from such a restaurant and the food was slightly under-seasoned but all had good flavor. Great wine selection by the glass. I thought the service could have been more attentive.

I like the restaurant itself so much that I would try it again as there were a lot of good points.

Wolf Atelier is a smart perhaps somewhat pretentious restaurant run by the Austrian chef Michael Wolf (he was not there when we came). The location is quite spectacular on top of a former railroad rotating bridge directly south-west of Central Station. The food is prepared in an open kitchen and quite tasty - we had the four course set dinner menu with wine pairings, not the signature fifteen (sic!) dish tasting menu. As often in these high range restaurants, very small helpings of food were paired with large portions of wine. To be perfectly honest I could not resist eating some french fries with peanut sauce from a nearby snackbar after the dinner to somewhat dampen the euphoria after such a meal. We did by the way ask for some extra bread but only received four small brioches for a table of twelve. Overall still recommended for rather outstanding cooking and friendly service.

Great place for dinner view minutes walk from the center of Amsterdam. We took course tasting menu and everything were excellent. Nice fish starters, ceviche, beef, dessert and cheese selection. Really great food. Very nice and professional staff.
