Description: Café de Ceuvel has been founded by people that would like to make a difference in the world, and that starts with your plate. The world food system is one of the biggest causes of climate change and many other social problems in the world. That’s why we are on a quest for truly good food and drinks. This goes further than a label that says ‘organic’. We are coöperating with a large amount of initiatives that make sure that every plate, beer or drink that we serve make a positive impact somewhere else. For instance, we are making our own soda’s with the organic syrups of Saru Soda, we are growing our vegetables together with Mijn Stadstuin in Amsterdam-West and our bitterballs are made of oyster mushrooms that grow on coffee grinds.

Found the place through a friend, as I'm vegetarian and we wanted to have lunch with some good vegetarian/vegan options. Place definitely well hidden, you wouldn't think it was there if you hadn't looked it up beforehand. I had a walnut muffin with vegan blue cheese and sweet potato fries, and Japanese Matcha Latte with oat milk plus apple and cinnamon drink. The food was good and the ambience in the cafe was different and altogether quite quaint. Enjoyed it, little hidden gem.n

Got served cow's milk after specifically ordering OATLY hot chocolate as advertised on their menu. The waiter even repeated 'Oatly' after we ordered.

Ok - mistakes happen but what is unforgivable was the response I received upon learning that I had just drunk a glass full of cow's milk as a lactose intolerant. Neither the waiter who made the mistake or the person at the till seemed that bothered about the fact that they had made a very serious mistake with extremely serious consequences. Not only were they both unapologetic but they then tried to make make me PAY for it (?!??!??) as I had 'already drunk it'

This kind of service in a place that so outwardly promotes vegan options is disgusting and even though I loved the setting of the cafe and the food options sounded nice, I will never ever return or recommend anyone to come here.

I was here once with some friends visiting the area and having a beer and it was already a nice experience, but yesterday it was even better.
I had two awesome plates for dinner, everything super yummy and great presentation.
Totally recommended.

For tourists this place is a little under the radar, mostly because of a poor connection to public transport. Going by boat you would have the cross Het IJ, the river behind Central Station. By bike or taxi this place is easily reachable.
Food is a bit expensive and queues are long to order inside as there is no service outside. But the place certainly has that hip Berlin-concrete-and-wood vibe which attracts young locals and young families.
Excellent place to chill if you just want to rest for a bit when you are feeling like driving around North Amsterdam by bike.
If you can come by boat this is basically a must if you want to leave the canals for a bit.

I have been there many times. With friends, family, in couple, and it was always a great time! The place is full of new sustainable solutions, it is super innovative, and the restaurant has such a great atmosphere. The food is delicious, the service is great and authentic. They also have amazing festivals and cultural events.
