Hotel Amsterdam DeRoodeLeeuw is amazing! They were able to get us in last minute after Citadel gave our room away yet still charged us. Halina and Kendra were very empathetic of our situation and provided great customer service. Smoke free premesis helps keep the riff raff out and the room cleaner. Room was nice for the cost. Would definitely recommend.

A hotel in the center. The are currently renovating the ground level and I had breakfast at the hote next door. If you want to be in the hotel between 9 and 17 I would not recommend it until they are ready. Small rooms. Bad design of the shower. The water comes all over the floor.

The internet tells you that the hotel's restaurant is currently closed for remodeling. What they don't tell you is that it is a construction zone with jackhammers and roto hammers going ALL. DAY. LONG. Their signage says "There will be occasional noise between 9am and 6pm". It was constant. And loud enough that it was difficult to hear people talking over it. And I'm pretty sure they gave me the "budget" room that was directly over the new dining room. One morning it started at about 7:30 am. It was fine on the weekend, but during the week it was really unpleasant, and I wouldn't stay here again, in spite of the staff being very helpful and pleasant. They need to be honest about what's going on. And it will be going on for another 6 months (until the 2018 holidays?). The budget room was about $300 a day.

Room Tip: Get as high up and as far away from the construction as possible.

Thank you for your honest review. Indeed we do post information on the renovations with our hotel publications, as we strive to be as open and transparant upfront as possible. We regret that the disturbance was worse than expected. It seems that you experienced the worst of it during your stay with us. Although we can tell you that it is not always like this, we are very aware that this does not alter your experience with us. For which we sincerely apologize.

We are glad that our staff was able to impact your stay positively and would highly welcome the opportunity to see you back after the renovations, so we can make that stay a great one allround.

Kind regards,
M. Romein

We stayed 4 days prior to a cruise. The hotel was under construction & the lobby was the size of a walk in closet. No dinning on property although they gave us discount breakfast coupons for the restaurant next door. Our room over looked the alley next door where groups of young thugs roamed all night kicking soccer balls up against our windows & throwing bags of garbage as people walking along the alley. The police came once & they ran off but were soon back. We've traveled all over the world & we haven't felt afraid except in Amsterdam. Bands of older teen thugs run between couples, pushing, laughing & throwing things at people. The elevator was so small that only one of us w/luggage could ride at a time. Won't be going back anytime soon.

Dear Joseph F,

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review and to give us a 3 star rating.

I am sorry to read that some circumstances made your stay less comfortable. I do recall you mentioning at check out that you had some noisy neighbours. Unfortunatly at check out it's to late to do something about it. We do always have securuty in the hotel who make several rounds through the hotel per night and day. No need to feel afraid as if we feel the need we do call the police to assist us to make sure all guests are safe.

I do hope you enjoyed your cruise.

Thank you again for staying with us and hopefull you will give us another chance in the future.

Kind regards,

Carly van den Berg
Front Office Manager
