A traditional bar on a street corner in the main pedestrianised shopping street, it also included a pizza restaurant upstairs, although we only stopped for a couple of drinks. An extensive cocktail choice was listed on the wall, and these were very reasonably priced with many around the €5 or €6 mark. We opted for a Gin Fitz and a Sex on the Beach. Both were pretty good, although I think the latter differed a bit from the more usual recipe, but both were enjoyable and we had a couple of beers as well.

We fancied a bit of a snack and so enquired if we could get a slice of pizza. It seemed that the barman didn’t hear us as he made no comment, so we were somewhat surprised when a full pepperoni pizza, not just a couple of slices, tuned up. This was most enjoyable, but what was even better, on asking for the bill and remarking that it seemed rather low, to be told that the pizza was complimentary! This was very unexpected, and certainly much appreciated. Overall, a great venue!

We visited this cafe and ordered two cocktails around 6pm. The waiter asked where we would like to sit so we sat on an outside table. Halfway through our drinks, we were approached by a waiter and simply told “we need the table for the restaurant so you must leave” whilst we were still drinking our cocktails. Rather than provided any other places to sit in the cafe or even to stand to drink our drinks, we were forced to stand awkwardly on the street and finish our cocktails. We were not told at any point that the restaurant would take over the tables at 6.30pm. We would have appreciated at least some warning of the table being taken over or at least a suggestion of where we could have finished our drinks. Very poor service!!!

Having wandered around Siena for the morning, we decided to go for lunch and chose this place purely on the basis that we were passing it .... and wish that we’d chosen another street to wander down!

The place struggled on all counts, whilst the staff were pleasant, there were not enough of them either waiting, or in the kitchen. It took an hour for the food to arrive, with none of the dishes being too difficult. When it did arrive, the food was quite poor - we had a couple of pizzas, spaghetti carbonara, Tuscan sausage and beans and risotto ... all of which were very salty. I felt sorry for the chap on the next table, who’s lasagne appeared just to consist of layers of pasta with only the merest hint of tomatoes peeping out between the sheets.

I’d recommend avoiding this place really.
