A prime spot in the main square, it’s well positioned to get the afternoon sun and needing some refreshment after climbing the nearby Torre del Mangia, we decided to stop here. Service was friendly and for the most part quite efficient, although they seemed to take a remarkably long time taking the money after we had asked for the bill. Perhaps they felt guilty about how much they were charging – the equivalent of €10.22 per pint, by the time they had added a 20% service charge. I’ve never paid more than 12½% even in central London. The only redeeming feature as far as the price goes was that with both rounds of drinks we got a generous portion of garlic bread served up.
