Went to a ton of restaurants in Rome, Chianti region, Firenze etc. This little place in Siena was my favorite meal. Shared some stew dishes and a pasta and it was exceptional. I think the owner's name is Giovanni and his mom is in the kitchen. one of the dishes was veal in a herby sauce that was unreal.

Had a nice €70 Euro lunch for two. Paid the bill and found an added 15% charge. This brought the bill to 80 Euros for two lunches. I asked my Italian friend, who is a local in Siena, about it and she said they should not have done that.
After the tourist money unfortunately.
Caveat emptor.

Our first time in Siena! We got lost looking for another restaurant, made random turns, and happened upon this gem. We, of course, also got lost trying to get back to our parking spot. I digress... What a lucky break! Luca was our waiter and he was so helpful, kind, and patient. We had two kids (4 and 6) and they’re still working on expanding their palettes past pizza. Luca was happy to help fulfill a request for just some fusilli, olive oil, and parmesan. He did so without any attitude or snarkiness. Thank you, Luca. It was perfect. The pici with cinghiale (thick noodles with ground wild boar ragu) was so delicious. So. Very. Delicious. We also had the florentine steak, which was also wonderful, and we took the leftovers with us to make tasty sandwiches. A note for the non-metric crowd: the price for the steak was €5 per hg. The smallest they had was 2 pounds. Came out to €50. I’ll leave the math to you. It was a HUGE serving= enough for 4 hungry people. All in all, this was one of the best Italian restaurant experiences in our three weeks here. Thank you again, Luca!

We happened to fall upon this place by chance while walking the narrow streets close to the piazza, we tried it and we enjoyed the atmosphere, service and food. There is a good selection of wines available and the owner can guide you through the wine list (and we were not 'pushed' to take the expensive wine). I am writing this review after my third visit in four years - Cecco remained the same - Good!

An amazing spot slightly off the tourist trail; family owned and serves amazing food. Found it by recommendation of the Rick Steves travel guide for Tuscany, and don't regret it for a moment. Very kind host and authentic experience; please open yourself up to this unique place with fantastic food and ambience! Just arrive right at opening to try and get a spot if you don't have a reservation!
