Pisa is a small city with lots of history but you need to walk it in order to appreciate it. My wife and I have been to Pisa twice and each time we go we find new things to see and do. The airport and train station are very near the city if you have rent a car you have multiple cities cities very near Pisa that you can go and come back within the day. You have Livorno, Populonia, Toscany last, Florence Lucca, Sienna, Montalcino and others all of them Medieval with lot to see and good food. If you don't have a car the trains go to must f the cities are often and cheap you can reach Florence in 50 minutes, Lucca in 20 minutes you can move without a car. In Pisa the way to go is walking, the Leaning Tower, Cathedral and Baptistery are all together, the main street going to and out of the Plaza di Duomo is full of restaurants and shops you also have a large hotel near the Tower. around the river you also have many restaurants and shops once you cross the Di Mezzo bridge in front of the Plaza Garibaldi you go into a main street which has main large stores and straight ahead very near you will find the train station. You won't need a taxi or car inside Pisa you will enjoy the city much more by just walking and exploring all those narrow little streets and alleyways.
