Cultural Walking Tour of Pisa with Leaning Tower...

Docked at Livorno and took shuttle bus to Plazza. Called into tourist information and got directions for local bus to train station. Luckily we met a lovely english girl in the queue and she was so helpful, telling us how much the fare was to the train station and showing us how to insert the purchased tickets into the machine on the bus. At the train station she helped us order our return tickets to Pisa and showed us the correct platform! The journey took about twenty minutes and from the station we walked through the lovely town to the Leaning Tower which took about fifteen minutes.
Had visited once before when we holidayed in Scarperia and we still enjoyed seeing the Tower, the Baptistrey and the Cathredal - amazing that these beautiful buildings are at the end of an ordinary street. Had Pizza and wine in an outdoor cafe on the way back to the train station.

Get away from the central area and stroll the wonderful streets. . Head toward the Railway station, and then circle back taking in some quiet residential avenues.
Great photos can be had with the Tower as a backdrop. Allow at least 90 minutes to enjoy what most visitors miss out on.

we are just back from a holiday in Tuscany (glowing reports on Agriturismo Diacceroni and the San Ranieri hotel to follow) however did not want to delay to share our experience to warn fellow travellers about despicable practicefrom the car hire company we used - LOCAUTO. Please read and be aware when making your car hire decisions.
We picked up our car from Pisa airport at about 10pm on our arrival on 29th august - we were shown our car by a man using a torch on an iphone so all we could really pick up (black car, dark night, irritated young kids) were any major dents. This was not ideal but what choice did we have but to accept the car in good faith?
We had an immediate problem with the windows steaming up excessively when we tried to leave the airport and got little help (a bloke who said sorry I don't know why this is happening and wiped the window for us and ushered us on our way) we discovered the only remedy for this was to drive the car with heating rather than aircon on - not an ideal situation when its pushing 30degrees outside- however we endured this and dropped the car off after a lovely holiday without hitch to be faced by an inspection that suspiciously went straight to a "scratch" running the length of the car low down - to be honest it was hard to even to see in the daylight (more of a mark than a scratch and definitely something that could have been t-cut out) so would have been absolutely impossible to see when we took the car in the dark. Naturally we disputed the damage and the practice of Locauto of having to hastily accept a car having only seen it with the aid of a "torch" on an iphone (we are 110% sure we did not do this) and suddenly the guy could not speak any English aside from the unhelpful comment "this is what you get when you take a flight at night" - REALLY? FFS? Anyway we refused to sign for the damage and I have today received an email to say that locauto have taken (wait for it) 1144.06 euros to cover the damage. We have been scammed and had beyond belief. Is it lawful to take the money from our credit card when we explicitly disputed and refused to accept (in so far as we did not sign the paperwork when the car was handed over). I can't tell you how angry and upset I am. These deceptive scamsters should not be allowed to trade.
