After travelling various regions of Italy and camping for a while we were looking forward to a nice hotel stay...we were not disappointed! Although decor seemed dated the Grand Duamo was a big step up from the hotel’s we’d previously stayed in. We were able to find it on foot from the train station with ease. Situated in the main tourist area of Pisa the atmosphere remained relaxed and in keeping with the laid back Italian lifestyle. The staff were very welcoming and suggested we visit the hotel’s rooftop bar, wow! We took the lift to the 5th floor and were amazed by the gorgeous view of the tower of Pisa, we instantly reserved a table for an evening meal. After visiting the tourist attractions and getting the obligatory ‘holding up the tower’ photograph we returned to change for the night. The 5th floor restaurant was calm and romantic, food was delicious and staff helpful. We finished our wine on the balcony and saw the sights in a different light, it was beautiful! We slept well in our spacious double room and enjoyed a continental breakfast. If we were lucky enough to stay in Pisa again it would have to be here!

We stayed here for 5 nights and were not disappointed by the hotel. Initially we were given a room at the back of the hotel on the first floor but when booking we requested a high floor preferably with a view as it was our anniversary and we were staying 5 nights. We asked at reception if it were possible to change rooms stating our reasons. They were very helpful and polite and soon fulfilled our request. The room was on the 4th floor and was light and airy and certainly not dated. Some parts of the hotel were more dated but this only added to the charm of the hotel. Our room had a terrific view of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and it was cleaned on a daily basis, with new towels, toiletries etc each day. Breakfast provided a good choice of food and suited all tastes and everything was replenished quickly. There was ample room in the breakfast room, with tables for 2 or 3 people and tables for larger groups. We found that an earlier breakfast suited us as it was less busy and gave us more time to explore Pisa and the surrounding areas. We did not dine in the hotel in the evening but enjoyed drinks on the roof terrace which had beautiful panoramic views of Pisa. There are plenty of restaurants nearby but we found the ones further away offered better value for money. It was an excellent base for visiting Florence and Cinque Terre. We went to both of these by train and found the Italian train system easy to navigate.

Fantastic location. And the rooftop bar/restaurant is an absolute must. We checked in and my wife wanted to go straight up to the roof. Glad we did as we ended spending the whole evening up there. Absolutely amazing view and every single member of staff was friendly and helpful.

We were in Pisa for one day/night, primarily in order to see the tower, cathedral, etc, and to catch a flight the next day. This hotel is in the pedestrian zone and extremely well located to the main tourist attractions. The hotel itself looks like it used to be very grand but has not been updated or maintained in some time. The room and bathroom were large, but the fixtures, curtains, bed coverings were definitely very old. The bed was extremely hard (it felt like I was sleeping on the floor, and it made my shoulders hurt) but it was quiet and well air conditioned. The terrace is the best feature of this hotel. The view cannot be beat, and the restaurant was wonderful. The service was excellent, and they had a small but lovely menu. The food was delightful, the cocktails were wonderful, and again...the view! The breakfast was very extensive. There was a lovely mezzanine area with lounge chairs, a piano, and a bar, but this was not open while we were there. A sign on the bar directed patrons to go to the terrace bar. It would have been a nice place to lounge after sunset and play cards, listen to the piano. I wonder if they use this area more so in the winter time? Regardless, I would recommend this hotel for a short stay and would perhaps book a more upgraded room next time.

What a location - literally 200m from the Field of Miracles (leaning tower) and restaurants/cafes. Exactly what we wanted. Room was old, spacious for a triple but tired and same with bathroom. We really liked breakfast - pancake machine and a slab of honeycomb from the hive that you could take honey from - nice little touches.
