On a business trip for my wife's work, we decided to stop for one night in Lucca, a wonderful town that deserved a much longer stay. The hotel is in the very centre, in a wonderful building freshly refurbished. The welcome, despite all covid restrictions, was great, very warm and professional. The room spacious, quiet and very well designed - the bathroom was particularly nice -. We did not spend much time here, but would certainly get back whenever possible. Only small issue is the parking, but that's something not depending on the hotel, that could probably offer a valet service. The hotel is in a pedestrian area and after downloading our bags I had to drive the car back to the street parking beyond the city walls, 10 minutes from the hotel itself.

I like new, clean hotels with good design. The Grand Universe delivers all of these. We had been looking for a weekend in Lucca on our tour of Italy and were lucky enough to choose the Grand Universe. We booked a mini-suite which wasnt cheap but was worth it. The extra space was great to have as we had an extra bed in the room for our daughter. The manager George is a wonderful character who will have you laughing and sharing stories of the history of the hotel. The staff could not have been more helpful during our stay. We could drive straight to the hotel to unload but then parking is a few minutes away which is not a big deal at all. The location is within the city walls so everything only a short stroll away. The rooftop bar offers great views of the city. We didnt eat at the hotel so cant comment on food. We had a great nights stay and will definitely return. Thanks George Mideleje and your team.

Beautiful hotel in a great location, ideal for exploring the wonderful city of Lucca. The hotel is decorated beautifully, modern but with traditional Italian elements.

Our room was very spacious, with a large comfortable bed, huge flat-screen TV and a great bathroom. We booked our bike hire upon arrival for the following day. This is a lovely activity put on by the hotel, we were each given a (big) picnic lunch which included a small bottle of red wine and was instructed to collect our bikes from the bike shop on the corner before setting off to ride around the wall of Lucca.

We also opted for the wine tasting put on by the hotel. We were unsure whether this would be worth money as it is in the hotel bar and we debated booking a wine tour excursion. But with Lucca being our last destination, we were already FULL of wine and decided low-key might be better. Having said that, we ended up drinking around five glasses of beautiful wine! Mario, the bar tender, was excellent and extremely knowledgeable. His stories and experience of wines in the Tuscany region were wonderful and we had great fun!

Having gone from Como to Florence to Lucca - this was without a doubt the best hotel and most enjoyable place.
