We decided to set up accommodation in a single location in Tuscany and opted for a rural lodge on the outskirts of Florence for 11 nights. Our goal was to stay in a quieter location and explore Florence and all of Tuscany. And we did not make a mistake. The lodging is simple but comfortable. The room (which we stayed in) was large and the ceiling quite high. It was September and the outside temperature was high (35C degrees) but the night was always quite cool in the room and we did not even have to turn on the ceiling fan. The nights were quite quiet and the quality of sleep excellent.
The breakfast is very good and I believe it is fundamental to make the reservation with this optional, since in the region you will not find a place nearby for this.
The owner, Giovanni, was a person love. Always helpful and present made sure to show us all the activities in the area and in Tuscany. Every day he asked us where we were going and he gave us tips.
An important point to note is that during our stay we had a serious problem in our room. Giovanni put himself up to the problem and settled it promptly.
The car is an indispensable item for this accommodation. As it is not in an urban area you will not find restaurants (with the exception of one) or nearby markets.
Great Stay!

We loved our stay here. Perfect rural location for walking (several routes from the farm), close enough for day trips to Florence and lovely to just chill in the Tuscan countryside. The accommodation is rustic, not comparable to a luxury hotel but very comfortable and peaceful. Giovanni is always around to help with local information.

Poggio al Sole is a gem of a place to stay outside of Florence. It's like being invited to an old friend's home to stay a while. Spent a week there and Betta and Giovanni are the perfect hosts. I still dream of breakfast! The couple grow saffron and make homemade jams, olive oil and delicious fruit based products. I had a cooking class with Betta and learned some great secrets to a perfect pasta and sauce. Easy access to Florence city centre. If you can arrange your transportation in advance it's easier but the owners will assist you with mostly everything to make your stay wonderful. I'm hesitant to tell people about this place because I want to go back and have it available. However this couple deserves a good review for their business.

Room Tip: Great breakfast! All rooms nicely done! Restaurants in walking distance. Easy access to Florence.

Carmen was a very knowledgeable and lovely host. We turned up without booking but they were able to accommodate us for a lovely lunch and wine tasting. The ethos of this winery was very impressive, would highly recommend.
Thanks Simon

My husband and I stayed at Poggio al Sole for a few nights during our honeymoon. The property is beautiful, boasting breathtaking views. Our room was very spacious and charming. The owners are so kind and helpful. Giovanni provided us with detailed instructions for taking the bus into Florence and even made reservations for us at a winery. Like another reviewer said, the GPS can be tricky. We passed the turn the first time, but saw the Poggio al Sole sign when we turned back around. Giovanni and his wife grow saffron on their property and we got to sample some of their infused honey and jam at breakfast. Delicious! Each morning we were impressed with the breakfast. There were so many yummy options and every morning offered something new. The restaurant across the street, Casa del Prosciutto, was also excellent. Originally, we ate there because it was so close, but we ended up eating there the next night because it was so good! Overall, we enjoyed our stay immensely and would recommend this Agriturismo to anyone visiting Italy.
