After reading positive reviews about Giulio and his tours, we have ordered a full day tour with cheese and spice tastings. We have expected the usual: a nice view of Tuscany, and a bit of commercial site seeing. Oh boy, we were wrong. For the price of a standard tour at other places, we got a personal tour of Tuscany, with real people showing how they live on this beautiful land. Cheese was one of the best we ever tasted, and spices had the aromas one would expect form parfum sampling. But most amazing was Giulio, with his personal touch of showing small towns, butcher store, monastery with a view to kill and all this with a smile that made us feel welcome. So, if you ever in Florence, write to Giulio and get one of his tours. Guaranted, any tour you take after him will be a new standard you will compare it too.

This is a copy of the letter we sent to Giulio, our tour guide. We had such a great day! He was early picking us up. He did everything to make our day perfect. We highly recommend using his services for the best Italy has to offer!

Sending a big thank you to you for the truffle tour. It was one of the highlights of our trip. It was perfect in every way. Even the weather co-operated.
We enjoyed the drive with you thru beautiful Italy. Your knowledge and expertise provided us with a very enjoyable tour. Our time in the woods with the dogs was so much fun. The lunch and tour of Anghiari so memorable. (We're still full from the amazing meal.) All in all, you gave us the perfect day. Please give our thanks to everyone we met, especially Marino (the truffle hunter - not sure if the spelling is correct.) Most of all, many thanks to you for taking just the two of us on the tour. Truffle hunting has been on our list of things to do. You made it a perfect memory. We will definetely use your services again and recommend you to anyone travelling to Italy.

Once again, Guilio and Cristina completely out-did themselves! This was my second experience with La Limonaia and it was even better than the first - didn't think that was possible! Guilio and Cristina were the consummate hosts - from the Chianti Classico vineyard tour to the cheese tasting - at the goat farmer's dairy (talk about fresh!) - to the sauce-making class. They treat you like family and visiting them will be a 'must' on all my future trips to Italy!

The fantastic food and wine experiences offered by la Limonaia owners Cristina & Guilio should be on everybody's "To do" list when they visit Tuscany. On our last visit my friend and I decided to treat ourselves to the Saffron tour. Guilio drove us to the foothills of San Gimignano via a truly scenic route which offered stunning views of the Italian countryside. Giulio's friend Roberto showed us where the crocuses are grown, we watched a short, very informative video of how the saffron is harvested from these beautiful flowers and then tasted some of the delicious Vernaccia wine which Roberto also produces. We were then driven to an elegant restaurant in San Gimignano itself , where Roberto's son prepared a fabulous meal - saffron featuring in the starter, main meal and also the dessert.
You should also treat yourself to the Spice tour. Pierre is extremely knowledgeable about spices and herbs and makes the most incredible blends of both. These are nothing like the dried offerings we buy in our supermarkets - they are gorgeously aromatic and bursting with flavour. My supply has now run out and this gives me the perfect excuse to come back for more! Next on our list is the breadmaking course and the Truffle hunt - can't wait!!!

On a return visit to "la Limonaia" I was determined to take up some of the super experiences offered by the charming owner Mr Guilio Benuzzi. The sauce-making class was a great fun and one which has proved of terrific practical use, as I now make the sauces at home on a regular basis, much to the delight of my family and friends. I particularly like the pepper sauce which can be served with rice as a hot dish or is equally delicious cold - great for light summer lunches or picnics.
A more self-indulgent experience was the Castle Wine tour where we were shown around the beautiful estate, learnt about the wine-making process and were then treated to a delicious light lunch accompanied by tastings of the wonderful wines produced by the estate. Further experiences have been lined up for my next visit - once you have been entertained by Guilio and Cristina, la Limonaia's most gracious hosts, you will certainly be coming back for more!!!
