Having walked and done lots of sight-seeing, we just needed a light bite and coffee without spoiling appetites for the evening meal. Il Vinile (the vinyl) was just the spot. A neon-lit entrance gives way to a narrow, cute and interesting space with pop art on the walls and table tops adorned with overlapping 12" albums beneath perspex covers. Quite a talking point discussing the eclectic mix of 'table cloth' from Florentian orchestras to James Brown! The sandwiches are great – and all named after rock acts (The Led Zepplin hit the spot for me!) and there was plenty of cakes and other nibbles at the far counter to enjoy with your afternoon latté. The walkway through the place is quite narrow, but the girls were obliging and rearranged some tables to make a 4 for us. This place is so cool, that passing tourists that couldn't get a table were photographing it from the street. A bar for a 'Long Play' (see what I did there?!) ;)

We spotted this place while wandering around Florence one morning and thought it looked really funky. By lunchtime there was a small queue for tables which nearly put us off, but the food looked so good that we decided to wait.

I'm glad we did! The sandwiches were fantastic, packed with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and their freshly-squeezed orange juice was delicious. I'd go back again in a heartbeat.

Special compliments to the lady who was running the place single-handed! Even though it was completely full and she was on her own, she did an amazing job of providing great service

Do you like music? Are you part of the vinyl retro scene? Do you like funky But extremely imaginative youthful art? Do you like good Italian food, both the quick panini and perhaps something a little more? Accompanied by Tuscan vine? then don't miss this spot, hidden away on Via Dante Alighieri, offering both bistro style inside tables and a small patio area which is more for smokers. Real Italian snack food and vinyl is the theme, with LP's lining walls, acting as sconces for wall lamps, under covers on the tables, everything from James Brown and Diana Ross to well-know Italian musicians and singers. They name their sandwiches after such well known names as AC/DC, albeit offering traditional Italian fare. For their paninis they use the scrumptious Tuscan bread called schiachata, which you can also get in a whole grain version. Try it with some red Sangiovese wine and top it off with an espresso machiato. But don't rush. The Palazzio Vechio, Uffizi, Duomo, and what have you, are only minutes away! By foot! Lovely decor full of youthful energy (both the owner and her boyfriend selected the vinyl LP's) for a young young designer, chatty and cute service, very informal. Go for it!

My husband and I stopped here for pre-dinner cocktails- this place was so cute, with really serious indie Italian metal bands ;) totally worth a stop.

We stopped here for lunch and enjoyed a huge meat and cheese platter with a few glasses of the house wine, both were excellent. The service was friendly although as they were busy it was a little slow in arriving, but there again everything was freshly prepared so worth waiting for.
