I read the mixed room reviews, and want to reiterate..... For goodness sake ask for a refurbished room. We are in what has to be the smallest room in the hotel (334). We arrived late due to flight delays which is no doubt why we were put in this room. It is clean, has the ameneties that are listed on the website, but to be honest, I would find it hard to swing a cat. The bed is 4ft 6inches wide. It is adequate, but in this day and age, I expect beds in a four star hotel to be huge. There is no room for a bedside table on either side of the bed. No problem, my husband can easily reach over to the desk in the ‘living area’ that apparently all the rooms have. Only one bedside light too. There is a big balcony. Shame it needs a good sweep and sandpaper taken to all the rust on the wrought iron surround. Oh, and a couple of chairs out there might be useful, especially as there is only one in the room. The breakfast is good. I have absolutely no problem with the staff. The rest of the hotel is lovely, just remember to ask for a refurbished room.

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished room.

We have just had three nights at this Hotel as part of our Insight Tour. This Hotel was a pleasant surprise, not only because it is a good step up from our previous Hotel in Rome, but also that the exterior is pretty “blah”. Once inside it is fine, and the Room that we were allocated was clean, light and had tea and coffee making facilities. The towels were thick, white and lovely to use. Two single beds joined together which seems par for the course in Italy but I was so touched that the Hotel Maid came to service our room and asked so pleasantly if we would like the bed for “married?”. We said yes, although we had joined the two singles together to make a double but the sheets were tucked in so you were effectively in two singles lol. When we got back last night, we were so touched that she had remade the bed with the sheets rearranged so that it was now a HUGE Double. That made us smile as it was really touching.

We had dinner at the Hotel on the second night as it had been a long day touring and pouring with rain, so our dinner was cosy and delicious. The Service excellent, not over priced compared to meal prices outside. We all ended up having a delightful evening.

The Bar also sets up a whole series of plates of nibbles and finger food that is free with a drink. We didn’t partake but some of our Tour Mates did and said it was great and they had a great time too.

I was also touched that the lovely lady at the bar gave me a jug of fresh milk as we couldn’t find fresh milk at the nearby stores, so we could have a cup of tea before bed.

The location is great, near the train station and plenty of restaurant choices to walk too nearby. I can understand why Insight selects this Hotel as it is a good all rounder. Whilst I would most likely not choose this Hotel if we were travelling privately or if we did I would choose to upgrade to a higher level more luxurious room, I have no complaints with this Hotel as an Insight Choice.

Room Tip: Maybe choose a higher level room above Superior?

Its a nice comfortable hotel with modern amenities. Situated at 5 minutes walk from Train station (Santa Maria Novella). We had a spacious triple occupancy room with a balcony. Tram route is right in front of hotel, yet there was almost no noise inside room. Thnks to double door at balcony.
Generally breakfast is quite basic in Italy hotels but in this hotel Breakfast was good and had plenti of options. Overall pleasing experience.
