Don’t know why some people gave this place one star, as we thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The gardens are a beautiful, green haven from the city centre, with some of the best views in Florence. We came at sunset which I highly recommend as it is not only a beautiful time to take photos, but was also nice and quiet.

The city is not only an artistic and historic sight, there are a lot of natural wonders around it, and this garden is surely among the best of them. It was recently restored which gives you the opportunity to admire its original design, beautiful plants and flowers, while walking along the paths and enjoying the fantastic views over the city.

If you want a quiet time away from the crowds then this garden is for you. It's in the Oltramo and is smaller and less formal than the Boboli Gardens. Recently re-opened after a 5-year restoration project it specialises in azaleas, roses, hydrangeas but is worth a visit whatever the season. You get splendid views over the city and beyond as far as Fiesole. As it's on a hill side there is some climbing to do but there's a choice of steps or wide zigzag tracks through shady trees. It gets better the higher you go so make sure you do get to the belvedere and to the cafe so you can enjoy a reasonably priced snack, beer or coffee while you take in the views! How to find it? Cross the Arno using the Ponte Vecchio and turn left along Lungarno Torrigiani and up along Via dei Bardi. The entrance is tucked into the wall on the right hand side. 5 euro if you only want to visit the garden. We spent about 3 hours there relaxing!

I found this a total waste of time. Yes, the views from up there are great but you get these from other spots too. Charging €5 for this is over the top and that doesn't even include the entrance to the Villa Bardini, that was costing extra again.
The Cafe in there is a total rip-off charging €5 for a soft drink.

We popped in on the 1st Sunday of the month and found that, like many of the museums, it was free entry. Beautiful garden with amazing views over Florence. Prices at the restaurant are pretty pricey however.
