Situated in a typical Florence building, going through the door off the street is like stepping into a Dan Brown novel. Situated on the second(3rd if you are from the USA) this delightful bed and breakfast resides. Modern in its interior decor it was spotless and the air conditioning in the bedroom was a god send, plenty of breakfast and located close to The Pitti Palace. Highly recommended

We stayed here for a 1 night visit in the orange room. It is huge and very comfortable. The views onto Via Maggio was a treat especially in the evening when the street filled with locals, musicians and closed to vehicle traffic. The noise could not be heard from our room. if you would love an authentic stay in a good neighbourhood that is better than a hotel could provide, stay in this palace that has been so tastefully renovated.

Once you find this b&b amongst a considerable number of huge, wooden doors in this street, you enter into an enormous, cellar type space, which is extremely atmospheric - the ground floor of this large building. The b&b is located on the second floor, to which you need to climb some 50 plus stone steps, so some degree of fitness and good mobility is required.

The host, Elisabetta, is very welcoming and largely on hand, in this 3 bedroomed b&b, should you require any assistance.

The property is ideally situated, not far from Ponte Vecchio and is in a quiet location.

The large double room (sleeps 3 with an extra sofa bed), located to the front of the property, is roomy, with thick stone walls and beautiful wooden floors. The bed is comfortable and the bathroom with shower is well appointed.

I did not quite realise what we were getting with this b&b until I arrived. A bit unexpected but I loved it! You are basically living in a room which is part of a few joined-up flats in a period building on the south side of river Arno, a few hundred metres down the road from Ponte Santa Trinita, around the corner from Palazzo Pitti and close to Basilica di Santo Spirito. You are right there, in the middle of it - and every night you open a heavy door with your key, go up old worn steps to the 3rd floor (no lift of course, as you are in a different century) and disappear behind an oak door.
Each room has its own colour, is spacious - but the only new piece is the ensuite bathroom facilities (even the wardrobe is old and creaks). You get assigned one of the breakfast tables, can operate the espresso machine to get coffee and get the cold cuts, yoghurts and juices from the fridge (along with any stuff you want to buy and store - that's fine as well). All of this is explained to you by the super-friendly Elisabetta, who can also help you out with some travel tips. One detail: my wife arrived well after midnight, so we slept in quite drastically the following morning - yet Elisabetta was quite happy to help us out with the now brunch, as all the food designated for us was still there, waiting for us in the fridge. So you get complete autonomy, with some help from the owner wherever you need it.
Highly recommended if you want an alternative to a traditional hotel stay - this is also traditional, but in a different and fun way, it is like actually living in Florence for a few days!
