Description: “Ristorante Bolognese” is a steady presence in the historic town centre of Bologna since 1937, also set in an enviable position is close to the most important hotels, to the railway station and to the bus station. The dining room, once used as coal depot, shows ribbed vaults, a typical architectural design of the old-times Bologna, thus resulting in a warm, yet intimate, atmosphere. Two additional small rooms capable of hosting 25 seats each, are available, making “Ristorante Bolognese” the right place for groups as well. The dishes offered belong to the Bolognese and Emilian tradition. A good start with local, highly selected, carefully chosen, salumi (charcuterie) is followed by fresh pasta first courses such as tortellini, tagliatelle, lasagne, and tortelloni. All of them are daily hand made rolling out sheets of fresh sfoglia according to our grandmothers’ tradition. Among the main courses are included: Bollito misto – a typical broth-simmered mix of meats (wintertime only), grilled meat and vegetables, Fiorentina steak, Porcini mushrooms and truffles (both seasonal). The menu also lists several homemade desserts, and off course, a wide and extremely careful selection of Italian wines. The Ristorante Bolognese is air conditioned and, in summertime, a veranda is available to eat outside or, for smokers, to enjoy a cigarette at the table. We accept all credit cards. The restaurant is closed on Sundays.

Our hotel concierge recommended for authentic bolognese food .
Tagliatelle con sugo [note not spaghetti bolognese] excellent with fresh pasta , grilled lamb a delight [though may be a little rare for British taste].Excellent anti pasta
House wine perfectly acceptable and good selection of grappa .
Service was excellent without being too intrusive , although as I speak italian I can not comment upon the limited english of the staff as mentioned by another commentator.

Wonderful food and wine. The pasta was prepared perfectly. The service was very good, however the English was limited.

Eat Bolognese!

First tip is not to ask for spaghetti rather than tagliatelle with your Bolognese. That is not the done thing!

Lovely red wine and Bolognese served by polite and professional waiters.

Moderately priced Bologna cuisine with an authentic experience.

Well, what can I say.
We ate in lot of restaurants in Bologna but this was below expectations. The worst food for the highest price with highest coperto (try O. di Mario or Inc. Montegrappa for cheaper prices and amazingly good food).
First, we got dryed out bread. Second, I can make better Tagliatella ala Bolognese at home. It was a disaster. Without taste and cold.
Third, my Girlfriend ordered Tortellini Patate. It was not cooked. Inside the tortellini had this whitish colour - which you can see when the tortellini is not cooked.
I feel like we were robbed from a good lunch in Bologna (on our last day). I wish we chose another restaurant.
The staff was distant and not friendly at all - like we were a nuisance.
The name of the restaurant is very missleading.
Ristorante Bolognese is a disgrace to the restaurant industry in Bologna.

I'm very sorry the clients were not satisfied of our restaurant about food, service, price, in other words, at all. What can I say? It is very rare, but sometimes it happens. Not always the client's espectations meet the way to work of a restaurant. Luckily the most of our clients think differently.
Best regards

We had just arrived in Bologna and wanted something close to the Station to eat. This place is little hidden but presents well once found. Staff were very good and helpful. We ordered a litre of the 'House Red' at 10Eu with a main course each of Mushroom Pasta and a Bolognese Pasta. Both were very tasty. The service charge is pre-explained in the menu so if you dine here, it's 3eu on top. Great selection of breads to mop up the red, which was probably too much but needed for a good night's sleep. Other diners recommended Degustation Menu #2 so we might try that another day.
