Take a full day to visit here. Since this is a FREE place to visit, the line to enter is humungous!!! You will have to be very early to try to get in soon, otherwise expect long lines. However, worth the day, must go here...

Our 4th time in Rome, and 4th time at St Peter’s Basilica... never fail to inspire us Catholics, seeing pilgrims and visitors from all nations represented. We were at the Pope’s Fransico’s address to the general public... we were blessed enough, not have any tickets but still was able to made it through... for those who need the tickets for entry they can get it the day before from the area where the Swiss guards are... also take note during the “hot” months and as the Pope’s address to the general public is in the open, bring along caps sunglasses umbrella raincoats drinks and snacks... and the wait can be up to 2 hours or more (yes you’ll need to be there as early as 2 hours or earlier to get a seat)...

I decided to pay the money for a guided tour which I'm happy I did. Not only beat the line up but a very knowledgeable guide explains the areas of museum and church. I was amazed at the order and security involved in getting so many people through this huge place. Unfortunately the Pope was not in today.

The Pope' Basilica is beyond words and exceeds expectations on both beauty and grandeur! So much wonderful frescoes and statues to gaze at that it's overwhelming! A must see in Rome and part of the Vatican tour! Be choosy in selecting a tour company with good guides as our guides fell below expectations. St. Peter's Basilica is truly a wonderful of Rome! Highly recommended!
