Dear Farahnaz G., thanks for your review that will help us to improve the service. We are sorry you didn't like the location of the hotel you chose yourself. There are no hotels close to the airport and the city center in Rome because they are in rather different locations. Our location is semicentral and we have a direct connection with Termini station by bus 360. From there you can take a bus to the airport Ciampino and a bus or a train to Fiumicino airport. So we are rather well connected. We are sorry you didn't like our continental breakfast that consists in 2-3 types of ham and cheese, eggs, salad, cereals, yogurt, fresh fruit, bread, butter, jam, croissants, cakes, juices, etc. and hot beverages. We will do our best to improve the facilities and staff's behavior.

Recent stay at Grand Heritage as part of an American Tour Group. We did not select this hotel, the tour group did. It is definitely what I would call a value basic hotel bordering on hostel. Location is far away from City Center and requires transportation. It is not on a public transportation route. Our buses let us off/on each day adjacent to the nearby park on the hill. Walking by the Army men with machine guns to get to the hotel down the street was a bit disturbing, even for this retired Army spouse. It was explained that high level govt. officials lived nearby (in this nice neighborhood) and that was the reason for the security. The desk staff seemed to get exasperated when we did not understand Italian and sternly berated our friend that could not figure out the hotel safe, located at the desk. There is hotel security that stands outside (not a bellman). The 2 elevators are VERY small and only hold one room of guests at a time. There are 8 floors above ground and several below (with confusing steps to the breakfast room and floors below). Although there is a huge dining room, they only serve the basic European continental breakfast, no other meals or room-service. This hotel does not have any vending machines and there are no food or drink options in the evening/night after the store and cafe down the street close (closed when we left and returned every day, so not helpful). SOME rooms have mini fridges stocked with sodas and cheap alcohol beverages that can be purchased at a significant markup. The room décor is VERY dated and basic. Mattresses are typical basic European, no springs, futon twin bed style, very uncomfortable. Outlet covers were broken and electrical parts were exposed. Very unsafe. From the consensus of our group, most showers were very small (cant turn around) and there was never more than 1 minute of hot water. Several rooms had problems with toilets not flushing at all and it took them 3 days to offer another room after they supposedly fixed it (but did not). When we arrived there was black hair around the toilet and a layer of dust on the tables in the room. The one bright spot for this hotel was the roof top terrace with great city views. Nothing posh, but great views. This hotel is not equipped for persons with disabilities. Pretty sure the 4 stars on other sites is their own rating!!! Would never recommend staying here or returning myself.

Room Tip: Hotel provided photos are not what you get! Our 1st floor room was super small and sketchy w/ patio doors to ground level.

Dear MEGross, we are sorry for the disruptions in the service. There are Army men near Embassies, Metro stations etc. in Rome to ensure security. As you have been told, Parioli is a very nice area where Roman aristocracy and wealthy people live. Our hotel is at 250 metres (600 ft) from the bus stop, so it is on the public transportation root, bus 360 goes to Termini station in about 15 minutes and from the nearby station Acqua Acetosa you can go to Piazza del Popolo in about 10 minutes. European elevators, especially Roman ones are much smaller than the ones you are used to in the States, we are sorry this was an issue for you. The beverages don't have a significant markup, we sell them at bar prices, very low ones. We are sorry the matresses and the decor were different from your expectations. We will do our best to improve cleaning and maintenance. All our staff does speak English.

we arrived at the Hermitage hotel straight from the airport, the hotel is located 45 minutes away from Rome central by bus. if you search for hotels near Rome city center the first hotel will appear is this although am not sure why. in any case, we dropped off our bags and went out because it was too early to check in. we came back around 9 pm, the host on the counter was having a cigarette and a discussion with someone outside, we made sure that he knew that we arrived but he continued his cigarette and his chat and kept us waiting.
we took the key and went up to the room, to be surprised by something that is less than a one-star hostel. the room smelled like old carpets that have never been washed , there was no bottle of water, no tissue paper in the room, the mattress was harder than rock, and there was a big picture of the holy marry above the bed, the last time I checked, hotels should not enforce religious figures or ideas of any sorts on their guests. the bathroom was a disaster, the towel was above the toilet so when you flush all splatter over them, barely a bar of soap and when taking a shower in the back a douche all water went out and spread through the floor. this is a supposedly 4 stars hotel that we paid 95 euros for, and it was a disaster.
I asked the front desk if I can have coffee in my room, it was around 9:15 pm, he said that I have to wait till the morning because they have none now.
the breakfast was like eating at a boarding school, pastry was stale and no variety whatsoever.
never again.

Dear LeBARbour, we apologize for the mentioned issues, we will do our best to elevate the standard of the service. We have a direct connection to Termini station by bus 360, the hotel is in a semi-central position in the refined Parioli district.

Staff's behavior is unacceptable, we will work to improve this, as well as maintenance. Unfortunately the bar service is available only in the morning. We are sorry you didn't like our continental breakfast offered everyday from 7 to 10 am, we serve 2-3 types of ham and cheese, eggs, salad, cereals, yogurt, fresh fruit, bread, butter, jam, croissants, cakes, juices, etc. and hot beverages.

We correspond to the regional standard of 4 stars hotels, we will work harder in order to improve what we offer to our guests and we hope you will give us a second chance.

It's an ok place. It appears more luxurious than it actually is - but it's a simple hotel. The breakfast wasn't good at all, we didn't go back after the first time seeing the alternatives: all sugar. The location is nice, there are a lot of restaurants and stores in Parioli, and when going to the center of Rome there is a bus that leaves from and brings you back to a stop 3 min from the hotel. And the staff are helpful!

Dear Nora R., thanks for your kind review. The italian breakfast is usually sweet but we offer a continental one, so other options are available too: 2-3 types of ham and cheese, eggs, salad.
