We visited the facility on the 14th October 2018
With my husband and my newborn daughter along with my best friend and her husband and daughter . We found the staff very welcoming and kind , the rooms where clean but a little bite small the breakfast was great ! We payed 80euro for one night and the hotel is not far from the train station just 10min they charged us 15euro for taxi for 5 people ! The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool and an indoor sauna and Turkish hammam overall it was good

Unplanned eight night stay here when my sister broke her ankle. The hotel itself is not in a tourist location and I agree with other reviewers you would need a car to use this as a tourist destination. But for us, near the hospital, it was perfectly located. Stayed eight nights here - staff were all amazing. My brother in law and I needed help with various things whilst my sister underwent surgery and post op recovery at the hospital and they consistently did all they could to help us with all our various requests. By the time my sister was able to join us on discharge from hospital they treated her like a minor celebrity! Rooms themselves were absolutely fine - comfortable with good air conditioning, welcome fridge and welcome kettle. Restaurant where we ate several times was also good - excellent choice of breakfast buffet, dinner good - and Prosecco plentiful! Outdoor seating area by pool was lovely and pool itself was nice too - yes it does go into the shade towards the end of the day - but that can be welcome rather than a problem, and one end does come back into the sun! Overall whilst this isn't an Amalfi coast tourist hotel, it is was for us a sanctuary at a very difficult time, and the staff a credit to the Novotel chain.

Probably ok for business people with own car.
Too far from town and Amalfi Coast.
Breakfast was disastrous, because the hotel manager failed to have enough staff on shift. Coffee cups ran out, so guests were queuing with plastic cups!
Asking for proper coffee from the bar was met with sighs and delay.
One poor stressed out waitress (Anna) frantically cleared and reset tables, while the manager failed to lend a hand.
Worst Novotel experience I have had in multiple countries.
Finally, the room was cramped and tiny.

The hotel disposes of a privileged position close to the sea, though far from the city center (you will need a car to reach it!) and its modern architecture is inviting on first view. Inside, our room (one of the few suites, the most expensive rooms) needed urgent renovation: it had dirty walls that should be painted, and the formerly yellow sofa and other upholstery covers were so dirty that it was really disgusting. It would not be complicated though, to take it off (the covers are with zippers...) and give it a thorough cleaning from time to time... The glass door to the balcony showed clear stamps by children's hands - it has obviously not been cleaned.
The suite could be big enough, but much space is lost by building in a completely useless walk in closet.
Very nice though: the big balcony in front of each suite, with sea view.
The pool is big enough, but not heated. Only the tough ones manage to stay longer than 10 minutes inside, even in Southern Italy's summer... Later in the afternoon, it is completely in the shadow, which makes you think twice before going into the cold water. There is a "bagnino" (pool supervisor) present all the time. But he does not interfere, if misbehaving pool guests dive into the water, smoke at the pool or make deafening noise.
Very useful: the underground parking (free!), which allows you to park your car protected from the Southern heat.
Very positive: dogs are welcome in the hotel rooms, of course not in the restaurant (which is understandable).
The reception and service personnel is polite.
Annoying though: the apparently standard response to requests for late check-out, even if you are willing to pay for it: "Sorry, but we are completely booked the day of your departure. You may gladly leave your bags at the reception on check-out, and stay some more in the hotel facilities." But where should we leave our dog while going to their restaurant or the pool? Above all, a quick look on the Accor reservation site proved them wrong about being booked completely: rooms in all categories were vacant that day... So, this is clearly a standard wording, probably imposed by the hotel management.
Cleaning staff could clearly be heard while cleaning a neighboring room one morning, due to thin inner walls (in contrast to outside walls, which are soundproof). After asking the ladies directly to show consideration for guests who still sleep, they respected our request the following days.
Internet access in the rooms is complicated, you have to log in each day. And you have to mention your room number doing so, so much for privacy (the provider is a private company. Nobody knows how they will use your data....) This could be handled easier, please check with Novotel Roma Est or Novotel Bologna Fiera for best practice.
Our overall experience was satisfying though. Should we come back to the area, we will probably choose Novotel Salerno Est again.

Room tip: sea view (executive or suite)

We booked one night here for easy access to Amalfi Coast during a motorbike tour. Arrived early and the room was ready . Free underground parking. However, while it’s not a picturesque location it’s a great base to get around the area. This would include Pompeii and Herculaneum, Vesuvius and the Amalfi Coast Sorrento if you’ve got your own transport. Our room was very comfortable and clean with working aircon. Lovely clean, cool swimming pool with towels provided. Great breakfast buffet to set you up for the day. A well reviewed pizzeria nearby, although we didn’t end up eating there as we ate out while we riding the coast road.
