New, spacious room with a surprisingly large. The window was a bit small, but there was plenty of electric light, so it felt cheerful. It had a large bright bathroom. The shower, with wand and rain shower, was still a bit awkward though, with a corner door right next to the toilet, so you have to be sure to keep it closed. They even offered bath slippers!
It was easy to get to, right off SS7, a bit before the cement factory. That’s not shown in the pictures, and it’s easy to ignore when looking at the olive trees in the opposite direction. It’s not too close, but visible.
Breakfast was generous, with pies and good croissants as well as the usual focaccia, yogurt, fruit, etc. Tea and coffee were available through the day, which was a treat when we came back from touring.
The hosts couldn’t be kinder or more helpful, and Bruna speaks perfect English. Matera was busy with tourists during the day, and the long steep walk to the car wasn’t fun. Nonna Rosa is a relaxing contrast to the bustle of Matera, with even a small yard with toys for small children.

We stayed here on the second last night of our trip to Puglia. The room was the best and most comfortable room we stayed in all week and one of our hotels was 5 star so that says lots. Michele and Bruna was so welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. Our breakfast was delicious. Thank you to Vincenzo for dropping us into Matera town and for recommending a fantastic pizza restaurant and then collecting us after having a few extra glasses of wine!. This is a place I would love to bring a big group. It's near enough to town but far enough away to feel like you are in the country. Highly recommended.

Just outside of the bustle of Matera is a little driveway that leads to an oasis!
The owners Michele, Bruna and family welcome us with extensive Italian breakfast which includes homemade bruschetta, tarts, cakes and varieties of fruit freshly picked!
We have slept soundly in a large comfortable bed in a large air-cond room with separate modern bathroom!
We wander amongst the fruit trees, check the dorper sheep and enjoy the countryside vista.
The next driveway is the Sassi belvedere and after exploring the Sassi of Matera, there is Ostuni, Polignana del Mare, Alberobello, etc to explore and enjoy!
Highly recommended!
