Many people love spanish cuisine. Personally I think it has too many toppings, but a visit to Mardid makes a nice lunch of typical local cuisine. I chose the menu of the day and I was happily surprised. The really low cost almost amazed me for the quality of some of the ingredients used. I also chose a local wine that did not disappoint me. All above my expectations. Very efficient service, plentiful dishes so much that I could not wish for the dessert. Overall evaluation "very interesting"!

We were beckoned in to what seemed to be a full restaurant, but there was a small table for us. We started with well-priced sangrias. We shared a good salad of lettuce, tomato, and plus a serving of sirloin with brie and red peppers--so delicious! Somehow our server knew just when to appear, and we ordered flan--also wonderful. Those servers all worked really hard, and we all benefited. We came back a few nights later when it was early for dinner in Spain. More great service. This time we shared roasted vegetables and kind of a giant grilled cheese. Again flan for dessert.

We called in advance to make a reservation for 20h and they only had a table at 21h, so we went at 21h and were more than 30minutes waiting outside. When I went inside to complain, they said they dont take reservations, and that they always say it on the phone. Why would you accept and agknowladge our reservation when we arrived then? It is not only rude to accept a reservation when you dont have a table to seat the clients, it is even worse to lie and change your speech when you realize you've already lost the customers. It only shows this restaurant is not trustworthy.

One more go at Tapas and some good wine. As you step in you are immediately welcomed and shown to a table. We were lucky as we were early birds so we could get a table right away. In the next half an hour, the place was packed and noisy. We love noisy places where people are happy doing what they like best especially on a Friday evening!
We started with a Madrid wine Las Retamas - suggested by the waiter - and it was great that we had a repeat!!! Then all you need are Tapas! In Spain Tapas and wine and you are in excellent company:)
Try their Patatas Bravas - we tried to get the waiter to tell us the recipe for the sauce but his lips were sealed:) Croquetas is another Tapas you will never get tired of. We would fly back to Spain in a heartbeat just for Jamon Iberico.
Dessert, please don't forget to try the Flan.
Enjoy, you are in Spain:) Malaspina is an excellent example. Greta food, great wine, and great people.
