When visiting the Rock, you must take a minibus for a tour as they know all the history and point out various points and make many stops. Well worth using them.
We found a taxi a moment after we decided we needed one, helpful driver, good value and the same with a different cab on our return trip.
Can't say much more than that. They come when they say they are coming and get you there without any hassle. Nobody seems to use a sat-nav in Gibraltar just like you wouldn't use one to find your way around your back garden. The place isn't really big enough to get lost!
We visited Gib on the 15th Aug 2018 and used Gib taxi tours for our tour of the rock. It was a 2 hour tour which was about the right amount of time. We paid a deposit through PayPal which was all really easy. Noreen answered my many questions in the booking process and could not have been more helpful. Elisa who was our driver met us at the cruise terminal (there were 6 of us from grandparents to children). Elisa was great fun to be with and very informative. She clearly loved Gibraltar and the monkeys. Elisa was able to advise us on safety around the monkeys and even which monkeys could or couldn't join us in the taxi! We did not feel rushed at all but were advised about the time we should spend at each place to ensure we saw all the tour had to offer. Really glad we pre booked as it was a busy day in Gib. After the tour Elisa dropped us off in the town and made sure we were clear about which way to go and appropriate costs to return to the ship. Brilliant day, Thank you to Noreen and Elisa who gave us a fantastic day.
Having stepped off of the aircraft and gone outside the terminal, we were greeted by Tony, a taxi driver. He knew everything there was to know about Gibraltar. In fairness it is only 4 sq miles in size but there are so many things to see and do.On our travels we had the good fortune to speak to more Taxi Drivers who were the same knowledgeable, genuinly good people. They cater for most size of parties and offer varying tours. Cost is what I would call average but if you need a Taxi there are plenty to assist you. If they do not have the answer to your question regarding the Rock, its history and its attractions, then no one will.
We walked across the border to Gibralter and we were greeted by a friendly driver who gave us the price and information about the taxi tour/drive. At first we thought it was expensive but after adding up how much it would cost to visit the attractions, we realised it worked out to be about the same, and not to mention how long it would take to go between the attractions. The eight of us, two families big grown up children, had an amazing time. John our driver was extremely knowledgeable and told us facts about Gibralter that we wouldn’t have known otherwise, he was also very funny which added to the whole trip.
I would recommend a taxi trip around the rock, it is more than just a drive around.
