Many places you visit don’t live up to expectations or are simply on a much smaller scale than you thought. Not true here; so many old buildings, alleyways, historic sites. Wow!

If you are looking for a great and calm place to relax and enjoy the Andalucían vibes, I would definitely recommend this area for you. You can also enjoy the view of Alhambra from Albayzin.

Albayzin is simply the old quarter of the city, with a labyrinth of narrow streets, containing shops that are nice to browse, and a large choice of eating places. Basically, head for Mirador de San Nicolas (where you get the best views of the Alhambra), then follow your nose. The streets are sometimes a little steep, but no problem for anybody without mobility issues.

During our Granada trip, we ambled downhill through the quaint, cobbled narrow streets of Albayzin, the old Moorish neighborhood. It made for an interesting walk through so many picturesque shops, restaurants and tapas bars - window shopping and crowd-gazing.

Well worth a walk-through if you have some time when in Granada.

I did this solo. It was a little funny trying to find the right path, but my suggest it to just put it in your google maps and follow it. You will practically be close to Sacramonte - which is the gypsy village. Well worth the trip.
