Great beer and pretzel with cheese. Large seating area. Good overall food selection. Easy to locate and a short walk from the hauptbahnhof. Definitely a lot of fun and an experience I will not forget.

Excellent Biergarten. Lots of people to people watch. Big liter beer. You can get beer split with sprite (brazen) or with lemonade. Excellent food. The cheese and meat tray was great as well as the schnitzel and the lamb. Fantastic. Great place to chill with friends or family

This beer garden is in an amazing location and is busy EVERY single night! This is a good thing as the atmosphere there is formed by around 1000 merry people! Getting beer is so quick and easy too as it’s pretty much self-service! My friends and I spent three nights in there over the course of a weekend and consumed around 5 or 6 drinks each night per person and never once had to wait in a queue for beer. There are hundreds of tables and we never struggled to get one! This place is full of mingling people from all walks of life and the experience of mixing with so many cool and friendly people is well worth the visit!

My holiday companion and I went to Augustiner Keller for lunch on our first day in Munich. Our hotel receptionist recommended it to us, saying it was the oldest brewery in Munich, and just a short walk from the hotel. The Augustiner Keller house-turned-restaurant is so picturesque on the outside. Inside, there were many big rooms with small tables made from large beer barrels with high stools. We were shown to a table almost immediately even without reservations. The serving staff were friendly and didn’t blink an eye at seeing 2 Asians. We had the set lunch of chicken consommé soup with pancakes (literally small cut up pieces of pancake in the soup), a plate of sausages & mashed potatoes and a black coffee. Being in the city famed for Oktoberfest, I had to try the beer, but being a rare drinker, I decided on a Radler (beer mixed with Sprite). I enjoyed it so much, my non-drinking Friend was enticed to try one too. Ah, priceless memories from the look on her face after she finished a whole glass! The meal plus beer was €15 each. I also really like the no-tipping culture in Germany!

Humongous. Packed with people on a Sat early evening at 6pm.
Was a little confused initially with the seating and the different places for food ordering; and later figured out that there are two sections— the area where you first entered into is where you would be served, just like in a restaurant (many tables had the reserved sign on them). Walk further in, and I found a “canteen/ food court” style place of ordering food and drinks. Seats around there are free seating, and most are happy to share, the long tables and benches.

Self-ordered half a pork knuckle and grabbed a huge (1L) local famous lager (just like the locals) from the beer stall. 20 euros for that- not too bad. The pork knuckle was superb, came with delicious potatoes. Beer was good as usual. A local German whom I shared table with chatted with me, and he commented: I did the right thing, what the locals love to do here, some meat and a drink and enjoy the early summer and the chats.

There is a also a fun looking wooden playground within the garden where lots of children looked like they were enjoying themselves more than the adults drinking nearby.
