The hotel is by the railway station with walking distance both to the old town and the Festspielhaus. Pricey for the Wagnerfestspiele, like everything in Bayreuth, but ok value for money, and very convenient. Friendly welcome, good service, nice breakfast, good restaurant in the Hotel. Very convenient parking, inside or outside, reasonably priced.

This hotel is a very pleasant place to stay when in Bayreuth -well placed close to the station and the main town and about 15 minutes walk from the Festspielhaus if you are going to the opera. It also has a very good restaurant attached -open after the performance. The hotel itself does a good breakfast.
The management are incredibly pleasant and helpful -we had a problem with flights and the manager was so kind and understanding. It is very good value for money too
I will happily stay there again

We are here fur the Wagner festival again and staying at the GH, again. There really is nowhere to beat it - comfortable rooms and outstanding service from Herr and Frau Hirschmann and their staff. Just a walk away from the Green Hill.... Recommended unreservedly.

I am very generous in my hotel reviews, however, this is one I shall never book again. We knew there was no air conditioning, but did not know we would be placed on the 4th (top) floor of this walk up. We could not sleep very well and we were awakened each morning by a jack hammer. When we explained that we couldn't sleep and we had to function here, I.e., this was a working vacation, we were told the only way out was to pay the $330 cancelation fee for unused nights. There was no concern for our welfare, and no apology for putting us on the hottest floor, a problem that could have been avoided from the time we entered, as we booked months in advance.
Otherwise, this place is rustic; the accommodations and breakfast are no better than average.

Room tip: All rooms are hot and noisy, top floor is a long walk in the heat.

The interior of the Hotel Goldener Hirsch is very traditional with dark wooden walls and carpets. It clearly stands out with exceptional service and a well chosen breakfast buffet. It's close to the train station (no noise), but also close to streets, so you may have to deal with some traffic sounds, depending on your rooms location (closed windows keep out most noise). It's a 10 min walk to the old city and the Opera.
