This garden was amazing masses of colours and the house was brilliant it was a lot bigger than I'd expected and very easy to get around. The Wisteria was amazing and in full bloom. We arrived quite early on the coach and it was easy to park. the walk from the car park was quite long but flat. There was one of those novelty trains to take the strain if need be. This trip was all booked and paid for before we left the UK.

A glitch with our tour meant we arrived at Monet's gardens in Giverny a little later than planned, which meant other tours and fellow tourists were already there or beginning to arrive. While the stroll through the gardens and former home of the artist were definitely worth the time, it was a bit challenging toward the end to navigate through all of the people. We visited on a weekday morning. The weather was cloudy and cool but no rain. The flowers and landscaping were fabulous! I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys gardens but caution about the crowds.

Although we had only visited the gardens at Giverny last Autumn, we were pleased to return at a time when the gardens were looking spectacular, with poppies, peonies, geraniums and roses of every colour. We were there on a sunny Friday, and had to queue for over an hour to buy our tickets. So, if the weather can be guaranteed in advance it is wise to book online. Yes it was busy, but so worth while and it is possible to view the gardens and take good photographs in spite of the crowds. Some of the small pathways are chained off, and this helped with the long views. We admired the unusual chickens in their enclosure close to the house.

We had the most spectacular day to visit the gardens and Monet's home. The sun was shining and a bright blue sky shone down on the most beautiful gardens I have seen. The wisteria was in full bloom and the perfume on the bridge will stay with me a lifetime. The gardens were very crowded but most people were patient moving along and allowing others to have the time for photos along the way. We had booked a private tour with the lovely Margarita (margarita.seguy@orange.fr) who showed us thru the gardens and gave us lots of information along the way and was very good at ushering us past the very large tour groups. Our transport to the gardens had been delayed however Margarita was patient waiting for us and was able to take us on a tour later in the day. My tip would be to get to the gardens as early as you can to enjoy it all...we sadly didn't have time to visit the gallery in Giverny but did have a lovely lunch by the river at La Guingette before driving back to Paris. Fans of Monet must visit Musee Marmmottan Monet in Paris to see the artworks...they are simply breathtaking. A wonderful day that was my highlight in my first visit to France.
