Very friendly staff in a great location. Hotel is old but full of character. The lift is very old and certain parts of the hotel show their age but it is clean and has all the facilities you could need. Our room was a Superior but quite small and the bed was a double rather than a king I think. The bed was comfortable. There was a small desk in the room with a chair and a stool but not much space on it. However there was a shelf over the bed. Round the corner was a wardrobe which contained drawers, shelves, a safe and a fridge so that was good. There were no hot drink making facilities in the room but you could get them in the lobby.
The bathroom was compact. There was a shower over the bath which was very efficient but it was quite high for me to climb over the bath to get in. There was no space at all for wash bags so we had to put them in the wardrobe on a shelf.
The lobby was reasonable but the lift was very small - only room for cases and one person. I liked the theming of the white bear. It was a reasonable value especially as the location was excellent with lots of restaurants very close by. We opted not to have breakfast. It was served in the basement and did not look that comprehensive for the price so we had breakfast outside of the hotel. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and most spoke adequate English. Quetien (? spelling) on the night shift was especially helpful and chatted in English. He also went out of his way to go to another hotel in the morning to get me a postcard of our hotel which he left for me at reception.
I would recommend this hotel for a few nights but not for a week or more as I’d find it a bit too restrictive in size.
