Lovely, unique hotel

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 6 Nov 2022
This is a lovely, unique hotel in a great location. We enjoyed all of the interesting pieces of art scattered throughout the hotel. The staff were friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. We have only minor suggestions, mostly about improving the practical aspects of the room. The hangers were falling apart and the shower wasn't great.

Great hotel in the centre of Toulouse. Our room had a great view over the Garonne river and everything was at walking distance. The room was comfortable, although the shower was a bit funny. The staff were very friendly, and helped us reschedule our trip twice (first time because of illness, second time because of covid travel restrictions). I m glad we finally made it to Toulouse, and Hotel des Beaux Arts helped us making it a great stay.

Travelling with my teenager daughter, got a tiny room with a shower / toilet separated from the bed by a flimsy decorative partition, which could have been excellent for one person! There was another classic room available but could not be given to us as apparently not cleaned according to the anti-Covid regulations.

There were other rooms available with two beds, but as they were “decorated by artists” they were more expensive and therefore not offered to us at the same price. That of course would have been a nice commercial gesture.

Well, I thought that a second blanket would be useful when sharing a small bed. But was told that there is one per room and we cannot have a second one.

In spite of the No smoking! signs everywhere somebody was clearly smoking somewhere in the hotel and the ventilation system did not prevent the smell in our room.

Hotel is logistically ideal: you can easily get to most interesting places by foot, and the tram passes just outside the door.
Rooms are tiny. We were given a room different from booked, but as soon as we told the reception, the girl switched us to the right one. On the 4th floor, whereas the lift only reaches the third. Bathroom and toilet were somehow weird as far as their geography is concerned. What really bothered me, though, was the smell of sewage in the bathroom which was disturbing.
There is no parking belonging to the hotel, so you either park on the street or in a public parking place (which is expensive).

I had the pleasure of revisiting Toulouse and once again I wasn't disappointed. I hadn't seen the Basilica before and that alone was worth the trip.
I stayed at the Hotel Des Beaux Arts. A lovely boutique hotel next to the Garonne. Incredibly helpful staff, esp Doris, a comfortable room, and convenient for all the main attractions. Well priced too.

If you are planning a trip to Toulouse I really recommend staying at the Beaux Arts hotel. The warmth of welcome from the lovely ladies on reception is matched by the comfort and the wonderful individual and original arty rooms. We were in "Monde" - rich orange and black, vaguely oriental designs on the walls; good en suite bathroom, with bath and over-bath shower. The room is not enormous, but adequate - but it's the view, straight out over the Garonne river, that make this such a great place to begin any tour of Toulouse. We woke to watch the sunrise over the river, basked in sunshine during the day (when we weren't' out exploring) and watched the sunset and then the prettily lit Pont Neuf at night. The hotel is literally minutes from the old city centre. Parking is in nearby Place Esquirol...safe, but expensive: we clocked up 54 euros in three days. Next time I might go by train.Breakfast is in the basement - cleverly lit and with a warm ambience; a good selection of fruit, yoghourts, croissants and bread, with cheese and ham. They had also purchased gluten free bread and crackers for me. We will definitely return.

Room tip: Any of the 'arty' rooms - and definitely with a river view.
