Our son made the booking that put us into a double room. It had a five shelf unit and two hanging spaces but no bedside table or shelf - a bit of a downer. A charming man in reception arranged for our second night to be in a twin room which had a table between the beds but there were only two shelves and one hanging space. It was small but everything was brand new and breakfast was great for two things: proper Granola to avoid the ubiquitous corn flakes, and lovely flake pastry croissants.

Perfect location for visiting the Cité de Carcassonne. Reasonable price/quality ratio. Wifi of variable quality. Very small rooms, bit of a Formule 1/Etap Hotel feeling with a small bathroom where taking a shower means water spraying all over the toilet. We did not have breakfast.

Fairly ordinary and boring standard hotel. Long brown corridors with small rooms, totally without charm. Probably ok if you are a travelling salesman. Coffee at a machine at the reception, for 1 Euro and without milk. Small beer for 2.50 Euro (?). Breakfadt fairly ok.

I really liked this hotel and would have given it 5 stars if it weren’t for the WiFi. WiFi is really important to me while traveling to order train tickets, check the weather, call internationally via WhatsApp, look for places to eat on Trip Advisor, etc. The frustrating thing with this WiFi was it would disconnect you every hour. Who does that? You’d be in the middle of a phone conversation and it would drop. Or you’d be in the middle of a financial transaction and it would drop. So frustrating. Just get a router like every other hotel in Europe and allow unlimited free access the whole time you’re there. Otherwise it’s a great hotel. Very close to the village/castle. Comfortable beds, quiet room, friendly people at the front desk. Great breakfast buffet. Very efficiently designed (yet small) rooms. I didn’t care for the shower since it got water all over the room but they gave you plenty of towels that could be used to dry the floor. All in all it’s a great hotel. Just fix the WiFi and you’re 5 star.
