Walking location to the city centre, friendly staff and spacious rooms. I travelled by train and found the distance to the hotel to be ok even with a suit case.

I cannot fault this hotel and would highly recommend it for a city centre (well just outside) break. lovely and quiet.

Needed somewhere for overnight stay in Manchester prior to flight next day. Excellent price, quiet and comfortable room, welcoming staff, good location. Would be great for a longer stay- next to MOSI and on free bus route. Would stay again.

Very disappointed in this hotel. Chose it for it's convenient location and (small) onsite parking. Asked for a room near lift with walk in shower due to mobility problems and for adjoining rooms due to family requirements. These rooms were OK, although not adjoining, just adjacent. However, whenever the lift was used there was a terrible grating noise of metal on metal. Phoned reception about this and it was obviously a known problem. Both rooms moved to another floor but the family room was stinking of cigarette smoke. No good for anyone let alone a six year old asthmatic! They couldn't find us another two rooms together with a walk in shower so we ended up split over different floors. Again absolutely no use for the family but what else could we do? Food in hotel was pretty average. Breakfast was just OK. Staff were very casual and a bit over familiar. They didn't seem perturbed that guests (or maybe staff) had obviously been smoking in a room when this is illegal. On checking out we were not asked how our stay had been and I believe the Managing Director was there at the time so I think a bit remiss. Not a good experience at all and definitely not value for money as the Crowne Plaza was almost the same price. We won't be back anyway.

Room tip: Canal side rooms have better view.

The hotel is in a great location with secure parking and easy access to bars and a range of restaurants. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful and the room was airy and clean. It felt a little over-priced compared to other hotels we've used in the area.

Breakfast was an additional cost and was disappointing. It was served from 8am and we needed to leave by 8.30am to join a trip. The hot food wasn't brought out until 8.15am and then it wasn't hot - more luke-warm.

Overall a pleasant experience but could be better with a bit of attention to detail.

Thank you for your review. We're glad to hear that you found the surrounding areas and overall location a plus point to your stay. Apologies if the breakfast was not brought out on time, I have forwarded your comment to the food and beverage manager so that she can discuss this with her team.

We came here as the hotel was the cheapest for a night out for a friends birthday. The hotel is clean and today when we arrived and staff seem extremely friendly and helpful. The food was good and the rooms were clean and tidy and beds are comfy too and had all you need in the room and price for room was spot on would definitely recommend this if going for a night out with friends. Came up on the top when looking on booking.com
