We stayed at the Avoca for 3 nights whilst on a city break in Dublin, booking last minute after being caught up in the Lowcostholidays fiasco. We struggled to book via the hotel website but Jack was very helpful over the phone and agreed to hold the room for us.

The B&B itself is set in a quiet residential area. It is at the end of a long street approximately 3 or 4 minutes walk from the Botanic Avenue/ Lower Drumcondra bus stops. Buses pass here every few minutes taking you to the airport (around 20 minutes) or city centre (10 to 15 minutes). Bus is the cheapest and easiest way to get around Dublin, so we purchased a 72 hour Leap card at the airport for 19.50 euros each that allows unlimited travel.

Jack greeted us on arrival along with the two cute little dogs, Peanut and Chilli, and proceeded to show us to our room.

We stayed in the slate/ orange double room as advertised on the website at the front of the house. The king size bed was very comfortable and the room itself was spotlessly clean with plenty of storage. The room was en-suite with a hot and powerful shower. Tea and coffee making facilities, a phone charging USB plug, and hairdryer were all provided along with an iron on the upstairs landing.

Breakfast was served 8am until 10am. Cereal, yoghurt, bread and a selection of spreads were all on offer along with tea or coffee and orange juice. Irish breakfast was also offered which was cooked to order and very delicious. Served quickly and with a smile by Audrey.

We enjoyed our stay at Avoca House and would stay again.

I have just spent a wonderful three nights at Avoca House with my sister and brother in law. Audrey and Jack were the most friendly and welcoming hosts imaginable - nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were comfortable and the breakfast great. I would definitely recommend a stay here.

Clean and very central. Good Irish breakfast. Clean room and welcoming staff.
Reasonably priced. Would return. Take in the Guiness Brewery and St. Patrick's Cathedral. Walk downtown and take in shopping and eat at local pubs which feature music and sometimes step dancing around 9 p.m.

Room Tip: Room at rear to avoid city noise.

You can't do any better than the Avoca House B&B. I've been going to Dublin every summer for the past eight years, and this is by far the best place I've stayed. Jack and Audrey do everything they can to make your stay with them comfortable and pleasing, creating a sense that you are home. The beds are comfortable and the breakfast is fabulous. The location is perfect -- easy to access the airport and the city centre with a bus stop just a couple of blocks away. Nearby restaurants offer up quality food at reasonable prices. I'm already looking forward to returning to Avoca House next July!

Our family of three stayed four nights here. Jack and Audrey are great hosts who really made us feel welcome. It was like staying with friends. They were really helpful in suggesting how to get around the city and nearby towns.
Our room was comfortable, clean and nicely decorated.
The backyard patio is especially nice and offered a place to take a break from sightseeing and chat with the other guests.
Breakfast was fresh and delicious, and tea and coffee were available all day.
We will definitely stay again next time we are in Dublin.
