Probably the best Beef and Guinness pie I've ever eaten in a perfect Victorian pub atmosphere a few steps from Heuston station.

We were a group of 5 traveling to Ireland and had arrived in Dublin our first day. We were staying at the nearby Ashling Hotel and were looking for someplace to grab a quick bite of late lunch and Ryan's was recommended. We were able to be seated in a cozy little "snug" and enjoyed cider and Guinness and some excellent food. Stephen and Colum (the bartenders) took great care of us and made for a terrific introduction to Ireland for us. It seems to be a place popular with local businessmen and there is a steakhouse upstairs. Did not feel too touristy - the place feels simple and authentic - just the way you'd want it to be.

I had dinner last week at the above pub with a couple from Australia. They were eager to try a Victorian Pub and have their first Irish steak. We ordered in the bar, sharing a snug, a mini private bar, we had 2 8 ounce sirloin steak,s perfectly cooked and a 6 ounce filet steak , all they steaks were as ordered, however the mash potato was stodgy, lacking in taste and seemed to have come from pre- prepared frozen supply, the choice of sauces with the steaks was good, but the amount was small as was the side of fried onions.. we ordered 2 glasses of red wine, both of poor quality and a soft drink, the bill came to over 100 Euro, poor value and a let down for Irish food

I’m a senior (F) and I chose this pub because it’s very close to the Ashling Hotel. It has a very authentic Victorian feel and locals were quick to make room for me at the bar where I was promptly served by a friendly bartender. Beer and my meal were more than adequate pub food. I would recommend this to people that appreciate a very busy, noisy Irish atmosphere.

We had the meat pie with mash potatoes. Part of the meat was a little dry.

We also had the sirloin - perfectly cooked Medium.

The cauliflower gratin was excellent.

Try their cheesecake. It’s absolutely amazing.
